Check it out. A buddy of mine at another company directed the game. When you're zoomed in all the way though, you can pixel pretty precisely so I'm sure some of the folks here could whip up amazing pieces, especially given the prizes.
-
pretty tedious to draw with but i'll definitely make something.
-
Incase you find the stylus hard to use, keypad + space works for navigation and placement. ;D
Good luck to ll who enter. :-*
-
make a pixel masterpiece and watch it get hideously skewed!
-
oh man RAD!
oh wait you have to be 18 to enter...
-
I think it'd be easier to screencap that, and pixel it in whatever program you use, and putting the final touches on it, them painstakingly transfer it over pixel by pixel in flash version.
-
neat, definitely gotta try and come up with something for this...everyone should post their designs here too!
-
Agh... this thing is kinda frustrating to navigate...
Anyone know how to pan around once you've fully zoomed in or at least zoom in somewhere other than the center of the body?
It'd be cool to get the exact dimensions of everything, work on this in a separate program, and then just transfer...
Nice find, though :D
I'm waiting for more info on this game - it looks pretty fun.
EDIT: The arrow keys allow you to move pixel-by-pixel, the spacebar allows you to paint (thanks Presley). Moving the arrows allows you to pan while zoomed in, too. Rockin'.
-
kinda a pain to use, but I'm definitely gonna submit something cool.

Hopefully this template I threw together will help out:

Pallette's in the upper left. Here's the default Guide character if you need some sort of reference:

Dimensions:
armJoints: 10x18 px
arms: 22x18 px
legJoints: 18x10 px
legs: 18x22 px
head: 36x40 px
body: 36x38 px
Good Luck! :D Can't wait to see what you guys come up with.
EDIT: What's the deadline on this, anyway?

I think I've got the head done
quite a tedious process, plus you have to keep in mind the final product is displayed at 50%.. lots of over AA needed

So are we sending in character designs in along with the pixels, or are these automatically being converted to hi-res JPEGs for us? :-\

Heh, i remember hearing about this.
Your buddy, eh? That Jeremiah guy? He was talking about hiring me as an assistant background artist and they suddenly stopped responding halfway through wage negotiation, nobody ever told me why. I'm not holding a grudge or anything, i just thought it was very strange >.<.
Its an interesting project no doubt, if a slight bastardization of the pixel art aspect ^^
-
Well, I submitted mine a couple days ago... but I haven't gotten any confirmation that they received it.
Oh well, guess I gotta wait til the end of the month...
-
Wait, wut-
Entries will be accepted between May 16, 2007 and May 31, 2007 (the "Contest Period").
followed by
One (1) grand prize winner and four (4) runner-up winners will be selected by THQ on May 25, 2007. All winners will be notified by May 30, 2007 via email
Guh? So, the winners are chosen before the contest is over? ???
-
Er... Instead of asking us, ask IGN as they are holding the contest.
-
I wasn't so much asking as pointing it out, but, yeah, I probably should ask and find out for sure...
-
SOUNDS VERY CONFUSING AND FRUSTRATING
-
The contest was supposed to be over like 2 weeks ago... I wonder what happened? ???
I guess I'll post my entry if I don't hear anything about the contest in a couple of days... Did anyone else submit anything?
