Title: A special contract
Post by: Poine on March 10, 2008, 07:47:03 pm
A little picture i made for a project portraying a cold hitman , it's 5 colors and it was some kind of experiment because it's the first time i work with greyscale .
Made in MSpaint and took about 3 hours .
If you have any crit or idea to improve please go on  :hehe: .

Light is supposedly coming from the moon, ergo, form the right. It's OK to have some sort of secondary light, but in your pic both sides are equally lit.
Also, the arm with the dagger is too close to the shoulder, I believe.
My suggestion is to make the right side much more lit. It will also help you avoid the trap of separate blots of light which make it hard to make the whole figure convincing.

In fact my idea was a front light source completely different from the moon light source , it was okay for me but it seems it doesnt work.
Also the arm is supposed to behind the body like this :

It's a shading effect but i must confess it's not too obvious  :blind: .
Thanks for the advices  ;)

the face is kind of sketchy right now. i mean, its hard to tell if that's a jawline or smoke coming from the cigarette.
also, the transition from lit coat to dark coat is almost too much in some spots--maybe use that darkest shade of grey for some more fold definitions, etc.
otherwise, i'd say this is well on its way.

good luck, and much love  :y:
