Title: [WIP] Help with a character
Post by: looaks on January 30, 2014, 04:50:58 pm
I'm working on a character for a game, after spending some time on it I'm still not convinced. Does anybody can help me figuring out what's wrong with it?

Thanks a lot!

Hi. I like this sprite. I think your main problems are a palette you do not control at this moment, a lack of clear shapes (or clusters, as I call them) and that the sprite is too dark and low contrast. Here's an edit. Hope it helps.

Don't hesitate to ask if any of my changes aren't apparent in their reasoning.

Thanks a lot, I really liked your edit, especially with the hands. The head was high in colours because it is temporary, anyway i had some minor detail like some highlight in the head, the diagonal band it is supposed to be leather so i made it more bright brown.
My attempt was indeed pretty dark, I kept your contrast but I tone it down to fit better with my background.

Now the fun part, animating!
