Title: Why are the colours so bad?

I reworked these tiles a couple of times, because at the beginning I just noised everything.
But now everytime I look at it, it kinda hurts my eyes?

Is this only me? And what can I do better with the palette?

1. Your textures are too noisy. Simplify them a bit to take advantage of pixel-art's minimalist qualities. You shouldn't be drawing individual blades of grass.

2. Your colors are a bit under saturated. Muted tones work great for pixel-art meant to create a moody, realistic tone. I'm not sure if that's what you're going for.

3. Converting your image to grayscale shows a lack of meaningful tints and shades. Your image is muted by too many gray tones. Try altering the contrast or playing with the values of your palette a bit.

That's all. Any questions?

Well thanks for that. I will try to simplify everything.

And I lowered the saturation purposely, as it looked even more like an eyesore with before and lowering the saturation helped a bit. Same with the contrast.

One more thing, choose your overall palette beforehand. I tend to work with a B&W palette then add color later, but it would probably be more beneficial to simply choose a palette of about 8 colors with a meaningful range of shadows, highlights, and tones.

I'm guessing you're a fan of Fire Emblem? Don't be afraid to attempt to emulate the style of your favorite games. You'll discover deeper aesthetics by going through the motions. Keep at it.

I made some plaette, even though I am not that sure it works good.
But it looks way better now, because I simplified things. Thanks for the advise!

careful with the FE colors, the colors were chosen with hardware in mind
