Here's an edit fixing the massive problems with the lineart:

Could still bear a good touching-up before and during coloring.

Personally i think it's an extremely boring shape for something so large. Either add some jazz to it, or make it 10x smaller. Also, make sure you look at your references carefully..  :y:

Well, Jalapeņos are pretty boring. Some of them are kinda bumpy, but that's really left until the shading stage. But yeah, it'd make a better 21x48 IMO. Very small.

I preferred the original's curved bottom.

Me, too, but there was a point with it. The original looks more like a stubby pepperoni. Jalapeņo usually aren't curved. They're a very boring thing to draw... I guess they could be curvy, but again, then it looks more like some other type of hot thing, and not like a jalapeņo...

Jalapenos (can't be arsed to make a ~n here) are not that even, they are ever so slighly bumpy. Plus they are quite shiny.
Also for something like this, why do you even need lineart. Just block in colours after or while looking at reference.

Just made this in about 5 minutes, picking colours as I went. From here colours could be refined and the whole thing could be polished, as in aa and such.

Shine-wise, there's a certain sexiness in the unrefined form actually. It makes me think of sweet jalapeņos (yay for ņ) as they should :]

Great edit, you! <3

im gonna try my way first, by shading the outline, and dithering, mainly because i need some practice dithering on something big. we'll see how it comes out.

I don't think you really need dithering on a jalapeņo. :-X Just sayin'.

Redo the big black line part.  It's ugly.

Just to note, jalapeņos are usually green.  Nice try, though I agree that it would probably be better smaller.

[EDIT] Looked up jalapeņos on Wikipedia: "During a growing period, a plant will be picked multiple times. As the growing season comes to an end, the jalapeņos start to turn red. The fresh market is for green jalapeņos and red jalapeņos are considered inferior. Growers either discard the red jalapeņos into the ground or use them for the production of chipotles." [/EDIT]

Don't forget the shiny white specular hilights. Make the shading kinda lumpy, too, sorta like in Ptoowing's pepper.

Might I suggest a rotting jalapeno instead?
It might add interest and detail to the jalapeno, given that it's a very large piece.

Ok where you go from here as you asked.

Study the other jalapeņo and see what is done differently. Notice that ptoing made it allot smaller. Which you might want to consider doing.
Then also learn from the pallet as like mentioned you need the white hi lights.

Good luck bot bad for a first pixel piece, just keep practicing.
