More work/boredom induced pixelling. No background again... if there were, he'd be leaning against.. something.

A much modified Cap.
Tell me about it.
EDIT:
Contrast/...stuff might be iffy 'cause of the monitors.
EDIT2:
*New version... much smaller, but any better? (contrast note still applicable)
*Added Cap. Might become another pixel dump, à la diarrhea.

Another great work :), colors and AA very well.
No much critcs, only the right arm seem a litle thick. And think need detail the feet.
And the form mmm i think is not correct, seems go to fall... I think the leg need more straigh.
overall great work.
-
another great marvel pixel =>
the only thing that bothers me is the bottom of the head. It seems like it gets cut off prematurely.
-
Aaaaah I loved this guy when I was in middle school...he got me into my nearly decade-long Joe Madureira idolatry phase :D The coloring is great, but I think the pose is really out of character, deadpool seemed to be mainly a mercenary version of Spiderman with some skin problems, he seems very...relaxed here. Because of the costume colors, the arms are pretty hard to read at first glance at 1x (I suspect they had a problem in the comics with this too, thus all the crazy spiderman poses). I think his eyes are slightly too low (or else he is looking downward, in which case the eyes should be thinner). His right ankle reads funny and looks almost feminine. His left (our right hand) is very confusing to me. love his traps though!
-
He looks like he'd be running, not leaning. I'm not familiar with the character, but I second everything Adam said.
-
hand which holds the longsword is completely unreadable. where is the thumb, where are the fingers, plus it's pretty much impossible to hold a sword at that angle towards your body. Reconfigure.
-
I don't think the pose is working at all. Deadpool is basically standing upright (http://web.njit.edu/~dac8/images/DeadPool.bmp) or doing basically impossible movements (http://ultimatecomics.free.fr/xmen/images/x-men/Deadpool_Cover_069.jpg). Also his head and that hand Helm mentions are really messed up.
-
i dont see it
-
there's just too many anatomical errors here, i suggest you scrap this and look at some ref's

Agreed. Dunno why I posted, aside from the fact that I was bored and I haven't been able to do much lately art wise. I may still do a deadpool pic, but this one's ready for the junk heap. ;D
Thanks for all the replies, though guys. Sorry for the poor effort. I'll (probably) do better next time. ;)
-
Another awesome piece by Tremulant. One thing that bothers me, though, is the right knee - it seems a bit fat.
-
nah it's not like you totally failed, you just need to work on the figure and anotomy some
-
Update, first post.
-
I actually liked the older one more, it just all looked better. Even if the anatomical errors are corrected now.
It's just the colors are too bland for me.
-
this one looks like it could be a game sprite.
-
DP's ass looks a little funny, and i think cap could use a slightly bigger shield. looks awesome though, I think we need a retro-style update to the Avengers arcade game....
-
i think Captain could stand to be more saturated.
-
Yeah i really like the grungy look of these two new pieces. Theres something about their legs im not quite keen on, but i can't pinpoint it. Neway, they're really nice, more! :D

Think you need to work on perfecting your skills more. Don't stagnate. How about light-dependent outlines that don't need outer AA then? Do it as good as you can and then sure, return to outer AA if it's a style you like. Colors can be brought together much more, creating a palette that can be applicable in any otherwise seemingly single color segment of the sprite.
Captain America doesn't slouch, he has a huge square jaw and looks valiantly in the face of adversity. The dither on his suit is good because that's the sort of texture he has going on with the scales, but it needs to be done more, I think. Knees too low, arm muscles tweaked, illumination on shield and numerous little edits all over the place. Hope I helped.
-
gogo c64 palette!
-
Thanks guys. I'll be taking all this to heart, tweaking deadpool, probably revamping Cap (based on that awesome edit) and using all for future reference.
That looks amazing, Helm. I've been slacking lately, I think :P I'll take what you've done, try applying it to someone else and be back when I have the results.
Ptoing, what can't you do with that palette? :D
-
If you could make a fighting game with this type of palette, it would be really cool. I especially love the colors you used on Captain America.
-
I found the colours too brown and dull. Shading is superb, but the colours ruined it for me. So what I decided to do is take the pallette from your Spiderman piece, because I know nothing about your colour selection and I found them to fill what I needed.

Also, Helms edit fixes something else, the stubbiness of his jaw.
-
there, i fixed up the anatomy too in helms edit. i also invented crotch muscles. wonder why no one ever thought of this before

-
Win.
On a more serious note, I really like your style, Tremulant. Like Gnarf said, it'd be cool to see a fighting game with this style. It's like a subtle comic book style, sort of. It'd work very well in a game because it's so easy on the eye, and it's easy to tell what's what and such.
-
Haha, feeling Liefeld Mia?
-
What the fu-? Horse steroids much?
Deadpool and Captain america don't even look as if you were going for the same style trem. The lines are much more bold in CA then DP.
I don't know if that was intentional though.
-
Scugh Miafeld!
(I love you)
-
there, i fixed up the anatomy too in helms edit. i also invented crotch muscles. wonder why no one ever thought of this before
what are you talking about i get like 30 emails a day about ways to improve my crotch muscles
-
I don't really like Captain America but I do like Deadpool; he has a cool stance. Great AAing.
-
Updated. I tried out the variable what's-it stuff at Helm's beckoning, and I'm glad for it. It was... more of an exercise than I expected. Did it turn out okay? That's up to you. :P
1 million points to miascugh for the mind blowingly realistic and anatomically accurate edit.
...Sad thing is it's still more plausible than that Lefeild abomination... :D
-
I think the newest edit looks great - but he looks a bit weedy. I think helms - edit was awesome, but then again its helm. Perhaps bulk up his upper body a bit exagerated to keep the comic book feel. I don't know why you scrapped the original deadpool - it looked good apart from some anatomy. Maybe take it back to the lineart stage and rework it from there.
-
knee caps are too bubbly. move the mouth to the right a couple of pixels, it'll make the jaw jut more.
-
Thanks for the quick replies, gentlemen.
Feron: He is a bit scrawnier, but then, Cap isn't exactly huge. I'd say middle weight, far as super heroes go. Is he too weedy for that? As for deadpool, well, I did it out of boredom at work, and didn't give it much love. Then I got bored of it, and it got left on the cutting room floor, as it were :p. You're welcome to play around with it, if you'd like. Maybe you can give it the love I couldn't :)
Lief: Done.
-
(http://members.aol.com/ddv106/dark/liefeld_cap.gif) You saying that is middle wait. No way. Atm yours is more like Captain Ethiopia than Captain America. C'mon just give him a bit more muscle power.
-
Heh, yeah, by that interpretation I guess mine is a bit underweight, but in that pic he's also a crime against nature. Run a quick image search on him, and you'll see what I mean.
-
hey tremulant beautiful edits, the newest one looks really great. I would push his pose a little bit, maybe bring his chest and arms forward one pixel; right now it looks slightly like he's leaning back, which reduces him a little i think. You might also decrease the contrast a little in the ah crotch-ular area, the shading between his pelvis and thighs seems really extreme especially given the lighting on the rest of him. awesome progress, i love projects like this they are so educational!
-
Adam: Bam. Done.
I'm trying to kill about... 2 more hours, so any suggestions made w/in that timeframe'll be implemented pretty promptly. :P
-
(http://membres.lycos.fr/nakorourou/hpbimg/captain%20america.jpg)
You can almost smell the testosterone coming of him. Yours would look quite nice in a dress. Lol, not being mean - but everyone prefers a real butch man in a tight lycra outfit.
EDIT: on further inspection yours doesnt seem that far off the picture i posted shape wise - but i think he looks weedy because you havent used many highlights. If you add more on the prominant bits suchas pecs and shoulders - then they will seem more robust and fuller.
-
(http://h1.ripway.com/tremulant/cappy3.PNG) (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i278/liefjorgensen/cappy_lief.png)
quick edit. reduced dithering and adjusted lighting. small changes to most parts - avoided his left arm, that shit is funky. You need to amputate at the elbow and redraw.
-
Zam!
Lief: Kept the dither (going for suit texture, cap's suit is scaly), changed left arm, buit had no idea what to do with it so... now he's even more gut-wrenchingly patriotic.
Feron: Fair enough :D I tried to up ythe highlighting on the pecs (and maybe the legs, I forget)... I'll be working on it.
Edit: forgot to bold the names.. my my!
-
its amazing that you can make a 4 color desighn(skin, white, red, blue) with only 8 colors, but i think keeping the colors so low is hurting your work. seeing as how you can make something like this, im betting you can do wonders with an added color or two.
also, a TINY bit more saturation would definitely help. the red is so unsaturated its brown.sometimes you need to do more then just "hint" at colors. :)
anyways, your color conservation is amazing, and even tho i dont like this as much as some of your other works its still very awesome.
-
Check out your center of gravity on cap, he seems to be leaning forward a bit too much. Move the chest one pixel left, and the neck/head another, I think.
-
I think you should move his left leg a bit to the right. Cap always seems to stand with his legs spread a bit more, all dignified and such.
-
Where is your lightsource? The shading on the head would suggest left, but the abs and his left leg would suggest right. hmmm.
-
Top left. well thats what I see at least.
-
(http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g23/artfocker/CA.png) i made a few edits the main things i saw were the muscle groups n stuff, like in his left arm his bicep was all weird and unaligned, his torso was weird too, his six pack was bursting out making it show that he has like noo rib cage at all... which is the thing with super hero's they make them all busty and sticking their chest out, i'm not saying it's the most smartest thing to do with this but atleast show he has that pride spunk that most superhero do
-
The jaws were too much not really human, and I didn't know how to say it so I made a quick edit over Lief's edit.
I think the shield should be bigger too.
EDIT:
Sorry Lief :-[. But I said it was a jaw-fix.
-
liefs edit, not helms (this goes for the last two edits).
let him know what you are editing so you don't confuse the poor man.
-
Updated.
Ryumaru: Took your advice and upped the colour count. Still under 16, so I'm happy, and it's loads more smooth. Also, I pumped up the saturation a bit on the red.
Helm: Done and done, I think. He seems a bit more centred now, anyway.
InvaderLupus: Done.
Feron: Carelessness on my part ::) Fixed...?
Zach: Revamped the whole abdominal thing. Still probably off, but I took a shot at it, anyway :P
SolidIdea: Altered the jaw a bit. Shield stayed the same, but I think it's just a stylistic thing. If it's something a lot of people are seeing, I might change it (and I might anyway, as I've noticed it more and more now that you've brought it up), but not for now. :)
Thanks for all the crits, guys. There's been a ton of useful info here and I think I'm learning something. Either way, I'm outside my normal style a bit, which is always good. Keep it coming! ;D
-
those abs look tons better mate
-
consider removing the outlines at certain points of the figure (top of shoulders)
creates a much more dynamic look for the outlining, and the eye fills in what you have left out if you do it correctly.
Like this, but do it better.
Oh, and your kneecaps are bubbling again...
