Wondering what kind of userbase we have here at Pixelation. Feel free to discuss the results.
-
male, 18... might as well mention I live in New Zealand also
-
Male, 16.
-
also male 18, but may I ask what this has to do with Demography? Unless your question has more to do than only age.
-
In reality, male 19, but I put 20 on the poll because it's not far from.
KBS, isn't a demography a way to... split up a population into different groups, or something? That's pretty much what the word means, right?
-
Proud to be the first mid-late 20 something to poll. Rock on~
-
yes, but I thought it has to to with social and political ..uh..something/ appearance.???(God, I wish my English was better)
-
Well, demography is pretty much the study of population statistics, so the "theme" is rather broad. (In this case it is only age, but common studies are about death/birth rate, marriages etc).
-
Male, sixtoon. ^-^
-
Demography - Study of statistics related to human populations.
I wonder if anybody is going to post 0-10 and say they were pixeling in the womb.
-
I wonder if anybody is going to post 0-10 and say they were pixeling in the womb.
Haha :P, That would be something lol, now I wonder also.. :-[
-
Male, 18...
Why would a 0-10 year old have to have started pixelling in the womb?
-
Unfortuanately, I bet there are a few in that demographic Faceless.
Male, fourteen.
We males... What dorks.
-
Male, 22 going on AWESOME.
What's sad is that I was either 15 or 16 when I first registered :\ can't really remember
-
I'm 10 and still pixelling in the womb :'( But it's starting to get tight in here...
-
Gross...
23 tomorrow!
-
19 now, but I put 20 because, like Rox, I'll be 20 soon (exactly a month).
-
Male, 16.
Apparently.
-
Male, 18 (19 in two weeks).
-
Male 16...but very near 17 so I went for 17 :P
-
happy birthday pkmays.
Male, 22.
-
Will be 27 next month.
-
Forgot to vote.
19 and male last time I checked.
-
13 - male
-
Proud to be the first mid-late 30 something to poll. Rock on~
I don't think you voted Fry, or at least the poll doesn't show as such. Glad to think i'm not the oldest, although I thought peppy was older than I.
-
I believe he mistyped 20 and put 30 instead.
-
Male, 14, Live in United states MI.
-
Male 28. Yikes! I'm apparently an oldy here.
-
Male, 18.
*gasp* No females?!
-
Female, 20 ;)
-
Male, 19 tommorow.
-
I believe he mistyped 20 and put 30 instead.
Ah yes my mistake! Fixed.
-
Mhh, the male/female ratio is more extreme than I thought so far. Anyway, 19 and a half years and male here.
-
I'm a 15 male. !yus!
-
im 17 and loving every minute of it :P
lol Adam and Dogmeat are old men
-
male, 15.
man, i thought there were women members here.
-
male, 15 :y:
-
Who cares if theres women or not, pixeling is pixeling, if you want to see women, go outside!
anyway, it's easy to spot a female pixeler, because most of them are korean.
The other prefer to style cats and gothic related stuff.
-
That's the most racist and/or sexist thing I've ever heard.
-
I agree...talk about stereotypical. I have yet to meet more than 5 female pixel artists, but I would never think that the majority of which would be korean...and is there something wrong with cats?
Anyway, topic related; male and 18. (Hurrah for me...I voted for the first time today)
-
gimme a break, why are the lot of you so freakin serious all the time?
It's a generalization based on what I've observed in the scene, it's not a personal attack on anyone, get over yourself, it's a joke.
-
I'm an old timer at 30.
-
27 and of the male species here ...
you're not alone Pixelblink
-
17 and male here
-
23 m.
-
I'm a female pixeler! I'll be 25 in a week and a half. :)
And for the record: I'm not Korean, I happen to love cats and gothic related stuff and if you want to see me, "outside" is not the best place to look.
-
24 male, denmark
-

See, you fall into that 2nd category :)
before anyone flies off the handle, I"M JOKING AGAIN.
-
This is pretty much like a Smurf village. Not a big surprise. I hear that young males are most likely to use forums in general. There seems to be a difference in trends on why the sexes get into pixeling; males getting into game art and females into the doll/socialization aspect, but that's just a generalization.
I'm happy to see anybody who is good natured and loves pixels here.
-
20, mexican-manbeast...grr.. :-*
-
Ha! You young guys. 36 now - 37 next month. But I'm really only starting to get into pixelling - if you don't count tooling around in the Apple ][.
-
male, 12 :'( im a very stupid little boy i must let you know. i smashed a window at school ::) and dont start callin me a rebel, it was an accident which essplains it and i live in england
-
What is it about <14 year olds on forums and their atrocious spelling? (I'm turning into a spelling Nazi.)
Anyway welcome!
-
Young people are more inclined to have poor spelling, but its not a rule, Fry. An intelligent fourteen year old is almost indistinguishable as far as I can tell. Twelve year olds however, I have yet to find a consistently unable to tell age of pre-teen.
Prepubescents and teens are incredibly differant, mentally and physically.
-
Dude, 16.
Mmm...Even when I was 12 I was a spelling Nazi. Growing up around ebonics, that was torture. "Mines" is not a possessive word! Never was!
Anywho, we need some more chicks. I feel an aura of testosterone here.
-
Haha, 80 males vs 2 females so far.
-

Were mostly talking about simple spelling mistakes with three/four/five letter words, no full stops, full stops after question marks, no capitol letters which the average joe has no problem with, it's just laziness. Stuff you learn in what... first grade?
Okay, on with the poll!
-
... capitol letters...
Off to the extermination camp!
-
Capitol Punishment for Frychiko!
-
You pass the test Lawrence~ well done.
-
Haha!
I am 26 btw, I submitted to the poll but did not post here so far.
About grammar and spelling, I always found Germlish funny, as in writing English but with German sentencestructure and wording.
I will now once pixelling go. Many fun all together!
-

Same here, grew up in a black family, hard not to slip and say "mines" or call my mother "moms"...
Although every now and then I have to drink a 40 whilst gaming :)
It's a choice to be a wigger, no matter what any wigger tells you.

Hey! I know how to spell! :mean: :P

Male, 15.

19 and female here.
Still only 3 females vs. 87 male.
-
Their won't be many baby pixellers :D
Didn't someone say something about this place being the smurves' village ?
-
Male, 22. We should do a Pixelation geographics :D to see where the pixeller density is higher
-
to see where the english-speaking pixeller density is higher
...hm? :-X
-
Tisha and Schu haven't voted yet apparantly. I actually thought there would be more female pixellers too. It's all kind of funny though, as I'm member of an art exchange forum too, where there are only 10 or so males and 100-something females.
Another thing I didn't expect is that there are so many young people here (amount of males 14-16 and males 17-19), as there are very mature conversations and C&C on the forum.
And Helm, I thought you were much older than me! :o
-
Ok, I see an emty spot - male 43, started fooling around pixel last thanksgiven and got 1-year old grandson.
Go easy on me - I might have a heart attack or something.
-
Tisha and Schu haven't voted yet apparantly.
Also Wayuki.

I am eternal :powl:
-
Ooh, I forgot to say myself: male, 18 :y:
-
15, mexican <.<
-
BOB no tenia nidea de que eras mexicano =O a proposito esta una chimba (padre) la nueva parte de tu avatar con luz amarilla
Colombia PRESENTE!
hehe, I'm 20...about to be 21 in December the third *nudge, nudge, wink, wink*
-
¡Colombia presente!
¿Ven, que no todos hablamos inglés solamente? :)
Venezuela presente aquí, sería bueno saber cuantos latinoamericanos hay en Pixelation. Ya sabía que Camus era de Colombia, pero me pregunto si hay otros en este foro.
*back to english mode*
Tisha and Schu haven't posted here, but there's some other woman pixellers I've seen on these boards (or Pixelation's blue version heh) like Wayuki, Enichan, Noadi, Emlan and Blue (Chilly I believe). There may be more than that, but it seems the forum is mainly male dominated.
-
Tisha and Schu haven't voted yet apparantly.
Also Wayuki.
Actually, I both voted and replied to the thread earlier. :-X
-
Male, 17.
And the only Filipino, heh.
-
20, a male type being, Norwegian.
Could technically vote on the 19 poll since I just turned 20, but meh.
-
I'm 23 and I think my anxiety level just shot through to roof when I realized I'm being owned by a bunch of teenagers.. :'(
-

Ha! I'm a 13 year old male and I spell and use grammar well (so people inform me), and have a very "mature" online voice (Again, so they say). Oh, and I come from England also, and have been studying pixel art for about two years (ever since I learned about the zoom tool on paint :) ).
But then, I am top in my year at English...
-
Female, just turned 21 last week. :)
-
18. Male. Same old, same old.
-
25, pretty young for an octopus.
-
Female, 19
results don't entirely surprise me but... it's why I like the pixel art community. Minimal drama, maximum artage. :y:
-
Minimal drama, maximum artage. :y:
.........how does that connect to the results...exactly? =o just curious
-
Men are less dramatic? Dunno.
-
19 in a month minus 2 days.
-
You've been 19 for two days?
-
A month minus two days is not minus two days
It's either 28 or 29 days (or 26 or 27 in February but that is not the case)
-
Minus two is not negative two, unless it is zero minus two.
-
Male, 17.
And the only Filipino, heh.
I know Teej is Filipino. I'm 13 By the way. I've been at this pixel art business since the 12th of December, 2005, according to the date on my first work. I like to write. People here pwn me. Same old same old.
-
Haha, why did I skip over 'month'? My bad.
-
Male 28. Yikes! I'm apparently an oldy here.
not as old as me buddy...
36 in january... ;)
been pixelling since '82
-
.........how does that connect to the results...exactly? =o just curious
I'm not sure... but in my experience it has. Largely, I used to contribute to dolling forums when I was younger. I went back to a dolling forum awhile ago and realize how insanely retarded people can be about everything on dolling forums. I ended up getting banned for people being too pissy at my critique of their work. They claimed I was hurting their feelings on their oh-so-dedicated art pieces (when they had just copied, mirrored, and pasted). Some of them were fairly decent but the majority of them were incredibly ridiculous about it, and insisted on making me a hotbutton issue and creating drama just from me simply critiquing everyone's work, asking me who died and made me God. ::) Dolling forums go to every length to make sure no one's offended by anything or pissed off so much so that they create drama but how much of a fuss they make over things. I think pixel art forums still care about pissing off people, but they don't assume that someone's going to have a nervous breakdown just cause someone's a douche to them.
Girls from the ages of 12-17 and women from ages 30-40 dominate dolling communities, and there's too much drama and idiotic girlishness for me, personally. Compare that to the exact opposite of here where males largely compromise the Pixel Art community. The only thing that really gets out of hand here is maybe undeserved assholeness... and it's pretty much not that common.
In my experience, forums comprising of males, whatever age, are considerably more mature, laid back, and less idiotic than forums comprising of females (where everyone giggles). It probably has a lot to do with how girls and boys are socialized from a young age. I find that most dollers don't take their art as seriously as male pixel artists do, and if they do take it seriously it's emotional, not necessarily maturely serious. It may be due to the age range but honestly, I think it's a prime example of how males and females are socialized when it comes to art. I could write a paper about it. XD
Of course, this IS a generalization and, like any generalization, it's not 100% true for everyone but... it's largely the vibe I've picked up from the many forums I've both frequented AND managed.
-
17 - Male. 18 coming soon.
-
How did I not see this?
I am 12
-
Male, 30.
saimo
-
I'm sure I'm desperately needed to help bump the female count.
Female 25
There we go. Now we have 6 females, and 9,000 males. Hoorah! We're getting there, girls.
-
Maybe you could talk a few of the guys into converting
-
You mean try to get some guys here to transition to chicks? Something tells me I wouldn't be able to convince much to go that far. lol
But hey, any who want to change teams are definetly welcomed.
Oh, and the smurf village analogy is dead on! haha
-
sheeesh, now I feel like I've to admit! Ok, I have to much feminine hormones :P
-
But then, artschools around here are the other way around.
-
I'm male and 20, though I'm pretty effeminate and I act like I'm around 9 or 10. Guess I can fill in just about any demographical gaps, should the need arise. :y:
-
An 18 year old male I am. Soon to be 19 though. First came to pixelation with a different nickname, before the forum went offline and became pixelopolis. That was the time that I improved the most, so I owe a lot to this place.
-
Heh... I'm sick... can you believe that every single time the title of this topic is bumped at the top of the list I cannot but read it as "pixelation demo-graphics"?
saimo
-

Hehe, me too, I saw the title and thought "Alright, a whole thread filled with demoscene logos and pictures!" :D
-

Lel, I'd be up for it!
Until then, 19 years old (GOD DAMN IT I ALWAYS WANTED TO BE A CHILD PRODIGY) and equipped. MALE.
And yes, demographics could as well be demo scene graphics ;<
-
Hehe, nice bell curve we've got going here. I personally fit into the lower end of said curve.
Heh. Demoscene.
-
sheeesh, now I feel like I've to admit! Ok, I have to much feminine hormones :P
Too much estrogen in your system? Uh oh. You haven't sprouted titties yet, have you? lol
-
Actually I've the word "Tit" in my backname translated from dutch (in dutch tit= tiet, in my backname it's spelled Tiedt. Now that explains a lot, Oh I feel so ashamed for my backname, haha ;)
So I guess I always had the titties, figurative spoken. Man, I wonder why I keep saying stuff like this
/Offtopic
-
 ASL?
-
Lol!!
Hot damn, KBS! Looks like you've stirred the interest of some, now that they're aware of your said "assets".
-
interesting conversation
male, 17, and therefor completely devoid of titties
-
Female 11-13 - 0 (0%)
Female 14-16 - 0 (0%)
possibly the reason for this forum's success?
(i jest, i jest... kinda.)
-
hah, that jest of yours could get a little messy. this place has got some pretty ownage female members here.
-
There are a lot of successful pixel art forums where females of that age range... just depends on what you would deem "successful".
-
I am 12 year's old.
Damn it, I m young compared to ya'll.
-
Dude, you're only twelve? You look older in your avatar.
-
Haha!

-
Caucasian Male 17 years old... Damn it... i hate being in majorities! :'(

Yes, the statistics are against you.
The odds are you are a 17-19 year old sweaty, pimply teenager.
Do you feel lucky punk? well do ya?

female 74
jk....
male...14
ya, that one sounds right...
-
I actually wish there was a 74 year old woman here. Especially if she was absolutely amazing at pixel art. That would be bloody awesome and she'd be an extreme minority. Honestly, who could best that?
-
Honestly, who could best that?
Jalonso! (ufufufufufuu) :yay:
-
Honestly, who could best that?
How about a blind pixel artist who had no arms or legs, and created his work by running his tongue across a device that outputs pixels as raised dots on a matrix, and typed in the RBG values and XY pixel coordinates by hitting a number pad with a pointer strapped to his forehead. And remember, he's blind.
-
I'm legally half blind ;) (";)" literally )

Damn, that is better.
Hmm...
How about a snail that does pixel art?

How about a snail that does pixel art?
One that slides across the keyboard and slowly moves around the mouse..
Oh, I love that little snail.
