would be nice if your .gif paused on the last frame, or you included a pic of the last frame without animation.  the main problem with the outline is the lack of understanding of facial structure.  outlines are actually pretty easy when you know what you're doing!   bust out that sketchbook and start practicing, cuz it is going to take you a while, and no matter how many people fix your outline, if you can't draw the outline properly you definitely will not be able to color it properly!

your first one was based to small of a refrence.  you need a bigger one.

your second one has anime-idus.  triangles for chin and wierd shapes for eyes.  just a guess, but did you go to deviant art and look at some peoples digipaintings...

bers has a firm grip on anatomy, you should base your pixel on his edit.

Anatomy is fundamental for any kind of art.  You need to go get a book on anatomy and spend some time with a pencil and sketchbook.  Pixel art is not easier than any other kind of art.  You cannot get by with a poor understanding of anatomy when drawing people ever.

I think pixel art is harder than other art.... I have no acces for anatomy books for the moment.... anyway I've used google....

@ eck: Nope... used my own head ( I don't look like that though)... I painted lots of manga in my younger days... may be the cause...

anyway I have made some more faces.... I like number 3 the most...

number 4 is just an edit of number 3...

C&C?

Bers is a good reference indeed... I have seen things I never thought of before

Thank you all!

Yeah, I'd go along with everybody else; you should study the face a bit more.  If I were you, I'd start with piece head on..and when you get the hang of it, move to a profile...and then, after learning those two, try the angle you're going for now.

Of your newest four, I'd say the second is on the best track.  You seem to be adding too much head behind the chin, if that makes sense  :-\.  Three and four are suffering from misplaced chins and mouths.

Either way, practice makes perfect, so keep pixelling!

Me again after some studies and hopefully improvement... they are certainly not perfect but I think at least they are an improvement...

nr 14 is an old one using a tutorial from Pixeljoint...

I like 15 the most... almost think it's perfect :)

Thank you, everyone involved the comments and tutorials was very good and intresting :y:

Keep practising. For 15: the eyes are too close together, the nose is too long, and the outlines are very vague...

15 is definitely the best one so far - I would totally try practicing side and front views too though, rather than this 3/4 view, it will help you to get a grasp for the basic shapes you are working with without having to project them in a full 3d space yet.
