I drew this apocalyptic landscape today and something feels wrong... (https://i.imgur.com/QVHd40R.png)

too little detail, reads more as a bunch of junk on the floor of a smooth cave/tunnel than anything else. Try to play with the lighting around the edge more, perhaps some highlighted buildings in the background there to break up the smooth ring on the right

Well, I obviously want junk on the floor as it's a collapsed factory but I still need to get rid of that ring.
-
i think it needs broken buildings anyway awesome art

pro hecking tip: never save pixelart as a jpeg and if you do make sure it isn't that horrifically compressed

Both images are PNG with no artefacts. Are you sure your browser isn't compressing images for you? I think that happens with some mobile browsers.

strange. the original is fine but the new one looks borderline sweet bro and hella jeff

Thought I could re-do this with some more buttes. (https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/350974172622618628/436503094763978752/bg_1.png)

This seems to have less detail than the first. I like the edit of your first image. I think you need a clear foreground, middle ground and background for these pieces to look full and complete. Rim lighting like Mystery mentioned sounds like it might look good, especially on tops of your new buttes.
