Title: [WIP] Jolly Old Fellow and His Moustache
Post by: Biggs on March 02, 2010, 04:55:54 am
Hello there Pixelation. I am sorry to say I haven't done any pixel practice all year. But seeing as how spring is nearly upon me, I decided to dust off the old pencil tool and attempt to re-practice my meager skills. It... didn't go so well.

After sitting down at my desk and opening up my image editor of choice, this was the first thing that came to mind. For a first attempt in a long while, I'll admit it isn't TERRIBLE, but I think I overdid it with dithering. I wanted to make it have a sort of realistic air to it, and figured a bit of texture never hurt, but dithering doesn't make skin any more realistic. Another problem I have is the mustache, which seems flat compared to the rest of it, but hair texturing eludes me. C+C, please?

I just mostly smoothed out the dithering, adding a few lighting details, and played around with the palette. Basically the stuff I changed was the stuff that I thought was a bit off. The original lines were pretty good in my opinion, just need some tweaking.
