I have this chest opening animation, but I feel it is lacking something. Tell me what you think:

Nice animation! Because the chest is rocking back and then thumping forward, I think it makes more sense for the impact dust to happen when it lands. See if this is any better:

It's also a little weird that the chest top appears to be rounded when opening, but looks completely squared off once it's resting in the open position.

Thanks for the critique dotodrymo! I rounded out the chest, and also added a little bit of bounce to the animation, as seen here: (http://i.imgur.com/KDdGX33.gif)

Try having the top start slow and speed up, instead of opening with a linear motion. That way, the momentum knocking the chest back will feel more natural, and the whole thing will probably feel more dynamic.

I removed a frame from the animation, do you think that did the trick?

Removed some frames and added anticipation and bouncyness.

i think it needs just a little after-shake at the end

The chests in binding of Isaac might be a good object to study

Thanks for all the critique! I tried to add the bounce to the beginning and end of the animation: (http://i.imgur.com/LCTqhJg.gif)

Here is an old thread with some chesty stuff that might help: http://pixelation.org/index.php?topic=21686.0 :y:
