It's a bit short…
What kind of help do you actually need ?

Idk, I need an idea for the BG. I was just going to do a generic gradient. Need more ideas.

Face has many problems unfortunately. Wonky abstract clusters without any underlying construction, making them look sloppy as a result. I would stop and focus on the FG, thinking about basic facial construction before progressing any further.

How the nose is attached to the head, brow ridge, cheekbones etc., then abstract it. Study those structures with the aid of resources. (Loomis is a good one.) If there's no time for this piece before submission then there's always time afterwards, but it is knowledge on a subject perhaps most worth studying.

If the face is the focal point here then perhaps a simple BG, i.e. gradient/low-key is the way to go.

Alternatively you could keep the BG busy (cubism stuff?), but the face simple and more unified, while there is still a contrast between the two.

Edit coming soon.
