32x32 8 colors (took about 8 miniutes)
here (http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/8008/devil8colourenemyspriteol2.png)
this is for the first round... the second round is a boss; and that decides it
-
A quick spruce up, could have you adding some detail/texture to the creature, tattoos or scars or something. Since at the moment it's good for the size and idea but just lacking a little.
Best of luck for the battle.
-
I'm only allowed 8 colours... I was really restrcting myself with this peice I'll add that scar thing and I'll try for a skull tattoo type thing (because the claws are white)
EDIT: well here is the new version this is like two seconds of extra work (http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/3039/devil8colourenemyspritev2tg6.png)

You're using too much colours for what you're getting. You can easily make this with 4 or 5 colours and it would look the same. Drop the saturation, remove the background, don't use coloured outlines, give it some texture, shapes, anatomy and add some hue shifts perhaps?
Oh, btw, stop running away from your previous topics and fix those pieces first.
-
I know but I want to win this battle
-
For 482 seconds of work, i dont know what to say. Quite frankly, im dumbfounded.
Much improvement needs to be done here. 8 colours is quite alot for a piece of that size. Use more variation. Don't try and shade everything. Just practice different techniques. Don't be afraid to screw anything up either because if you cooperate with us, we will help you fix them.
-
I'm sorry to seem if I'm arguing with you with this but I cant take away the outline without taking away the scar and then I wouldnt of taken away any colors at all, and
@Gil: I wasnt running away from those peices I had to make this for a battle (read first post)
-
I wanted to make a little edit of your devil but I went a bit overboard I think.

Hope it helps a bit to show you what can be donw with 8 colours in that size. Problem is that your colours are too close to be told apart so you basically waste some of them, And in small sprites it's not a good idea to have a solid outline like that, unless they only have 4 colours or less.
-
cool thanks ;D

Hot-ass demons boys.
Tomster, is your demon jumping? he doesn't look like he's standing.
p.s. If you were me, You'd at least spend a good 20 minutes on it.

Note, man: Things look much different zoomed in than at 1x or even 2x. What may look like an outline or dark red close up may probably be identical to another color zoomed out. Make sure the colors are nice and seperate. This is called contrast. The higher the contrast, the more different the colors. This is especially important in smaller images where you don't have enough room to have lots of subtle color changes.
-
just wondering, whats the link to the PIXEL forum your doing this battle at?
-
link (http://z14.invisionfree.com/Pixel/index.php?)
@Frychiko: nah he's standing
@Xion Night: what do you mean? every color that looks the same is the same
@Gil: I've already entered mine... and I wouldnt use one of those even if I was payed a million pounds, I dont rip, it's against everything I go by

ME

ID SOFT (also this is not really pixelart)
Imp

Baron of Hell
(http://www.easton.demon.co.uk/doom/pictures/bossb1.gif)
And I thought Doom was general knowledge, I could recognise each enemy from the original doom games by it's sounds. Doom 3 is poop in comparison!

Pretty hard to distinguish what it is... And why are the legs a totally different colour to the red blob thing?
Btw, finding it hilarious how all your topics are getting locked.
