I was looking to see if anyone had any ideas on how to start bigger pixel characters, like in http://vimeo.com/35259959

If there are any rules, tips, tutorials to follow, I would really appreciate it. I am trying to get some bigger characters for a game idea I am working on in my spare time.

do some pencil sketches.
maybe look up tips on storyboard and comic style sketching.

What decroded said, pixel art comes after, you could get most solid draftsmen of that style to whip up something like that in pixel art without much effort.

You might wanna have a tablet here, set your brush to some sort of circular shape, but with no AA. That's what I can think of.
