Hi all,
Been working on this for a while now, doing the graphics and also learning how to code! Anyway, wanted to post some stuff here for any helpful feedback. If you do visit the blog link you'll be able to see an epic post's of where this game came from and has been developing! :)

I love that toy vision DoF effect you have going there, really cool stuff.
-
I like the style you're jiving with here, really neat. My only complaint would be that the actual units are occasionally tough to spot, and since they're kind of key to the gameplay I feel like they should stick out a bit more.
Keep it up!

that really looks super nice, I love the minimalistic style.
Looks pretty much Populous to me..?
-
I like the style too.
The buildings could use some shadows and that purple shading on the green tree does not work at all.
-
Same here, dig those NPA effects. Almost reminds me of looking back on a nostalgic memory.
However, I'd like to see a bit of hue-shifting on the trees if possible (more of a teal-green?), and the purple trees don't fit very well into the color scheme. If you have to settle for a peculiar color for that tree, grey, brown, yellow or a generally warm color would look better. The trunks are a bit saturated as well, especially in the second screen, and I'm with Olonthor here--the classes may have to be distinguished more.
-
Thank you all loads for the feedback, it's really helped spur me on. I started this as a learning project when I broke my jaw but must confess I've flagged a bit recently. Great shout about shadows, I'm going to have a play with that to see if it can be done from a code point. :)

Hey, very cute and likeabe style!
ptoing and pistacho made some great points that I definitely want to agree on. In addition I would suggest swapping the green shadows on the trees for something less saturated - specially on the purple trees if you're gonna keep them =).
Again, I think you've done great so far - looking forward to playing it!

Very cool style and the game concept seems interesting, at least as far as I can tell without any instructions :P

A cheeky little pre-christmas update ... now with a larger game view to fix in more pixels! :)
Can play around with it here on this link: http://dev.electrolyte.co.uk/flash/pop/yiro9384j01/ (http://dev.electrolyte.co.uk/flash/pop/yiro9384j01/)

Hi all,
I know this is an old post, nearly a year in the making, BUT in some ways this is a close of this chapter - the game has been released!! :)
You can see the finished outcome here: http://www.reprisaluniverse.com (http://www.reprisaluniverse.com)
Created in homage to Populous, Reprisal lets you take control of a tribe, guiding them, building land and making them grow in number. Using
special totem powers you can control nature itself unleashing its full fury on anyone that stands in your way. But be warned, other tribes may not take too kindly to your intentions and will put up a fight!

Oh, man, what a nice game! I'll be playing this lots and lots! ;D
Kudos to you. It's always fun to see a long-running project get finished.
-
whoa nice, got an interesting feel, dare i say Populous meets Sword and Sworcery, definitely looks influenced by them both and not just the former, awesome :D
Edit: playing now whoa nostalgia ;D

This game is amazing! The music is amazing, the graphics are amazing, the idea is amazing and I am having an amazing time playing. Amazing.
At first getting used to the heights was confusing, but now that I'm used to it (only took about two maps) it works well. Every now and then I think that the maps ends until I remember that I have to "scroll" to see more map. That said, there is nothing that helps me differentiate between the end of a map and the edge of my little diamond view.
I noticed the worst kind of typo though:

Two instances of the "your" typo. It should obviously be "you're" in both cases.
Back to playing!
