Title: New Years Resolution
Post by: Rydin on January 01, 2008, 12:12:49 am
Nice and simple: What's your New Years Resolution?  Be really serious, or be completely silly (monitor resolutions kick-ass).  Of course, don't answer unless you want to or somebody makes you.  :P

Mine is to stop being so damn lazy....life's pretty damn easy if I ever did try, but I never really do though, and I don't know why.

I have a couple.  Sounds stupid, but I want to get a trophy over at Pixel Joint.  You know, the top ten thing.  That'd be awesome.

And I agree with you there on the lazy thing, I sleep everyday after school, I should probably do something else, I don't know, pick up a sport or something.

EDIT:  You had a RHYME TIME with your resolution, Rydin.

My primary goal is to get my online business up and running so I can chill out at home and not have to go out and do crappy jobs. Been planning and coding away for many months but still have quite a ways to go. That and plan for a wedding and think about when I want to have a little bugger around the house.

Uhm... for a start I would like to stay alive and happy, enjoying the small things in life.
Also, I would like to be more productive art-wise, waste less time and be more organized overall.
Perhaps eat healthier... and uhmm... that's all for now I suppose. :0

I'd like to get some progress done on the art and programming of two games I am making. The last years been great. I've been able to pick up both projects from their death. I've become satisfied with the quality of my pixels and feel I have put my own personal stamp on each project. The thing that's made me happy is that I've been able to keep working on them. Usually when I get to a roadblock, I restart and ditch all my previous work. This time for both projects, all I had to do was reduce colours, change colours, redo some tiles and make a couple style changes.

It makes my heart feel warm that I was able to salvage some art and then be re-inspired by the original spirit that lead to their creation. I don't know what smiley would best express this feeling of joy

- lose 20 more lbs. (lost 30 last year)
- finish the two pixel games I started this year
- study/make more art (got a new sketchbook & a book on anatomy... funstuff.)
- to try to go a new place each week and take photos
- read some actual books

--Meet the female of my dreams
--Travel
--Do some exciting things (i.e. bungee jumping)
--Help other people out in some serious way (actually make something useful of myself)
--Generally change the world and not waste my life

Also I think I'd like to learn another language.  I'm able to communicate fairly well in Spanish already, but I'd like to learn Japanese now.  I bought "Japanese for Dummies", so there's where I'll start, haha.

Languages I'd like to know during my lifetime:
English
Spanish
Russian
Japanese
Hindi
Swedish
Portuguese (Brazilian)
Khazak (or whatever it's called)
...and more...

perhaps I should get moving.

That was one of my New Year's resolutions a couple years back. I only ended up learning a little bit of Spanish and a smidge of Vietnamese. I've always been interested in other languages, but the only one they taught at my school was Latin which hasn't really been too useful over the years. ;)

I still want to learn:
- Spanish
- French (regular and Cajun)
- German
- Vietnamese
- Hindi

Learning a new language would be awesome, or an instrument, I bought an acoustic guitar about october-ish its something I'll hopefully be able to play by the end of 2008. I've always wanted to learn something in secret and just suprise everyone.  :)

I thought of a new years resolution, its definately something that needs to change in my life.

I wanna learn how to be more organised It feels like after the week is done I've not really achieved much.. Plus I definately need a new job closer to home, my currents one's such a pain to get to Its still in the city originally lived in (Moved 4 times since). I've had to squash my shifts into one huge bitesize weekend so I end up recovering on the Monday. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Im in University (Which is like several miles in the opposite direction) or if im off doing some of my own work (which I usually don't do because I hardly ever see my mum, dad or brothers so I usually choose to chill out with em) and by Friday I've gotta travel all the way back to work, Its so far that I stay at a relatives after I finish each day, kip on the sofa.

Sometimes it's so friggin tiring, it honestly seems like this is gonna be my life from now, no time for fun or hobbies. The only main time I spend with friends is on a Tuesday night when we all go out clubbin, which isn't too good considerin we've got lectures all wednesday mornings..  :P

Yea I've gotta go job hunting, hopefully Morrisons will take me  ^-^ Its just around the corner and im excellent working in shops, ive done it for 3 years.

I need to get on some sort of workout routine, working random groups on random days wont cut it. I especially need to focus on my lower body some, my legs are twigs.
i've actually been fairly productive recently, I need to keep that up this year.

Nice. I love the layout... Adding you to my links list.

So far I've starting on the new places/new pictures resolution. -> http://www.flickr.com/photos/inklestinkle/ And I think I've sketched more in the past couple days than I did in all of last year. So that's already an improvement of sorts.

My resolution is to skip school as much as possible. Perhaps even going as far as making up a desease.
It's been completely ruining my marks and health the last two years. I can't study for any tests because of my fucked up timetable - I'm in school for so long I don't have enough time to study at home. Oh and trying to catch up during lessons means punishment, naturally. I'm so completely miserable with my classmates (no, I don't have a social disorder - the rest of the world does) and my teachers that I'm completely stressed out. Even now after two weeks of holiday my legs are still shaky and I quickly feel nauceous. So solution: don't go to school, do make the tests. Unless the government gets on my back... but we'll see about that when the time comes.

To the language guy: Two years ago my resolution was to learn how to count to 10 in a different language each week. I made it to 23 languages before I began to fail chemistry.

Yeah, it could be that bad, I don't know.  Where I come from, disease or a broken home are the only reasons to not do well in school, but I don't come from where you come from (by any stretch).

That's how it is. No homeschooling either.
There's been strikes from students all over the country this year. Unfortunately they destroyed lots of things, so the government didn't take too well to that. If anything ever changes though, I'll already have graduated.

*shrugs* I figured I'd post my resolution to see what people'd say. I reckon it's a pretty rare new years resolution.

You know, technically, if you committed yourself to study on your own...I mean, like really study; read and apply, not just skim a little bit.....and if you made an active and dedicated attempt at building and perfecting your skills (the skills you think you'll need to do well in life)...and make sure to keep a certain level of social interaction (that you'd miss out from not going to school), you could pretty much do without school at all.....all you'll really miss out on is the wisdom you might absorb from older teachers.  :-\   Not to instigate or anything.

It sucks that homeschooling's not allowed there. It didn't work out for me cause I'm a lazy bum, but the majority of the other kids in the homeschool co-op we belonged to finished their studies in less time than the usual school schedule and are smarter than most kids I know that have attended private and public schools. But of course, I live in Louisiana so that's not saying much.
