Looking for some help/advice and C + C, trying to keep the style kinda simple.

Hey Creepy665, I think you've made a good start.
One thing you should think about is trying to show the form of objects by using light and shadow. For instance, the pillars on the side of your temple would be cylinders, so they should be shaded like cylinders. I'd start off by trying to convey the shapes of your temple without using any outlines at all, just using light and shade. Even before you add any decoration on.

Interesting building. Looks very solid/strong.

Too many high-contrast, parallel lines. Needs actual lighting. Too much pragmatic, unimaginative pillow-shading.

Study sprites in similar games.
