Title: Big floppy
Post by: hiddddde on March 13, 2008, 04:43:06 pm
I was bored and I didn't pixel for a long time. So I thought why not make a floppy

The only thing that I think is. It is so empty, but I don't know what I have to put on it

apply depth to the black 'holes'.

add texture to the blue surface?

by the way, there are just a few simeple mistakes, for example, you left a pixel out on the metal sheath.

What is the best way to get texture on it?

I tried the texture myself and this came out:

It's still in progress but yea...

Good start, but if this is supposed to be a 3.5" floppy the proportions are all totally off. Go look for reference.
Also, Disks are usally not textured (well some were, but most not) and are just smooth flat.

When making the floppy itself thinner you forgot to adjust the small holes depth. They are too deep.  The arrow should be one pixel deep, these two bottom rechtangles differ in size. Normally they go through the floppy but you could apply a bottom for the left one. The sticker looks weird. It's placed in some kind of hollow but at the edge it's thicker than the floppy. The metal sheath is too thick and it looks like if it was lying on the floppy's surface but it should wrap the floppy.

Here's my edit. I'm also not experienced and it's my first isometric piece but I hope it helps.
