Title: Platform charecter sprites, looking for tips!

I am working on a platform character. I feel like standing sprite has come along well, but I am having issues making the crouching sprite. Any tips on what I should do with the "spines" on the back of my character while they are crouching? Here is the sprites so far, and tips on both the standing and crouching sprite will be appreciated! (http://i.imgur.com/A0Jgedj.png)

Those are so cute! The crouch looks nice in my opinion, but the height of the spikes (or whatever they are called) in the facing up sprite doesn't match with the others. (http://i.imgur.com/bC6qjeT.png)

Curly I never noticed that, thank you for pointing it out. I am glad they feel cute and adorable! I have added some shading, if you have any tips please let me know. I want to make these as good as possible. :) (http://i.imgur.com/4R8Qqxj.png)

Yeah really cool for youngster's game. I'd move the eyes up just a little, but that's personal preference.

Good stuff! Very cute! Is this being animated? I feel the character is tall and crouches into a pretty small silhouette. I'd suggest animating the stand to crouch to see how everything flows.

I moved the eye up, and I think it makes it look better also rocifier. I have also edited the back facing sprite. :) (http://i.imgur.com/mOcXl0R.png)
I do plan to animate them hayguy, but I am very slow at animation so it may be a bit before I get the first one out. Animating is a headache for me. :-[
