So with the resurrection of the game project I was working on quite some time ago, I've been looking over some of the graphics I did and noticing some improvements I can make. The asteroids caught my eye straight away, and I've set about improving the large one, here's what I've got:

The increased shadows are a nice touch but somehow that general astroid shape seems too lumpy. Its well textured though. Maybe adding more large jagged surfaces might help a bit. In any event its still good work.

nice volume, but does not look like an asteroid at all, google image for asteroid. an asteroid is normally way smoother but with lots or small impact craters.

Yeah, I like the work that has gone into this, but unfortunately it doesn't resemble an asteroid much.

I like the shape of the asteroid, although it does not look real. However, in space, there is no indirect lighting from the sky and so there are no purple shadows. It would look more realistic, if they were pure black.

Hmmm *mulls over it*. You know, I got so caught up in the technique of it all I didn't even consider getting ref pics, haha. And how could I forget craters? *shakes head*. Looks like this is going to need a big rework.

As for the purple shadows, theres a purplish nebula nearby  ;)

Yay for craters! Your new asteroid is improved alot, looks alot less lumpy =). Your color scheme is really good too. Can't wait to see more .

As for the purple ambient light... you need no reason, purple is reason enough.
