pardon the subject title, i didn't know what to call it.
critiques are welcome, though i'm mostly interested in your opinion on the design.
I'm also thinking I may animate this:

Cool. Reminds me of some of the Megaman Legends enemies. Or Beast Wars.
He is leaning forward quite a bit. I'd suggest moving the legs more under his center of gravity. His near hand looks really flat, try to give it that curl/semi-fist shape that the farter one has.
Also, what are the fins on the back? Does he transfom into a plane? :)

Awesome, it's like a cross between Eva 01, Eva series and XII From SF3

Awesome sprite.

there's some odd things happening in it which i'm aware of, mostly due to the roughness of the anim at this point.

What is that? Flexing? Grabbing? If any of the prior then cool, but if it's an attack you might wanna add mo' oomph.
Cool, though.

looks like its hugging aggresively.

I knew I saw it from somewhere :-\.

I concur.

I concur.
I think flexing would be like striking more of a pose. Hold the most strained position for a second and maybe make his face change to a strained expression, with like, wide eyes or maybe a roar. It also looks wierd that he's lunging forward. I'd say a more "flexy" pose would be one with a straighter back.

The animation looks like something a boxer (fighter) would do. I'd make the "hugging" movement more stiff and trembled, like the Hulk (tv) did. Showing anger and fierceness.
