Title: [C+C] space jellies
Post by: Omiscone on October 30, 2016, 09:29:52 am
I was working on this piece over the past few days, but I've been really struggling with the tentacles. They just seem really unnatural and blocky to me, I'd appreciate any help on that or anything else, thank you.

I like the reference and the color palette. I think one problem I have with the all jellyfish is that they all have the same pose. Take a look at these images. I googled "jellyfish swimming".

If you give the jellyfish some more dynamic poses, maybe it won't look blocky or unnatural. Also, I'd suggest making the jellyfish a little more "alien". Maybe some glowing tentacles, electric insides, brain, odd shape, whatever. Those are all my suggestions! Keep up the good work!

Try "dithering" the edges to give them more of a flagella look! Jellyfish tentacles tend to look a bit like ribbons with outer strings, try to work around that angle!
