I haven't really done this for a while but here is what I got so far

I need some advice on how to improve on this, and eventually animate it.

Looking good so far, though I don't know what that thing beside hi is supposed to be. Is it a color pallet?
Are you going for something with balanced proportions or no? I ask because it looks like his lower half (minus the feet) is too small for the rest of him.

Yep its just my little pallet.
As for proportion, I dont know. Should it be more wide?

-his legs are too close together. Junksquashage.
-have the arms hang a bit more, he is heaps stiff.
-tried to put in elbows and knees
-his head was kind of pointy
-gave him a gut. your guy has basically no abdomen, it is just chest then wang, which is crazy.

Fixed a bunch of weird problems I built into my earlier edit for some reason. (and the muscley version is basically in mimicry of ryona's, below).

I tried to keep it similar to yours but while still touching up on what could be improved.
I reshaped the body and added the white of the eyes as highlights on the body.
I hope this is helpful.
