You've probably seen it in high-level strategy videos. This weird, wobbling blue blob that just sits there, takes a hit, and then unleashes a wave attack that absolutely deletes groups of enemies. It looks goofy. It looks harmless. But Slime Cat—and its evolved form, Jellycat—is arguably one of the most mechanically unique units PONOS ever dropped into The Battle Cats.
Getting it isn't easy. It’s not a Gacha pull. You can’t just throw Cat Food at the screen until it appears. You have to earn it in one of the most frustrating Advent Stages in the game: Realm of Carnage.
What Makes Slime Cat So Special?
Before we get into the "how," let’s talk about why you’re even putting yourself through this. Slime Cat is a "Glass Cannon." It has almost no health. If a Doge breathes on it, it dies. However, it has a 100% chance to create a Level 4 Shockwave. Because its cost is so low—only 450¢—and its cooldown is relatively short for a wave unit, it becomes a literal nuke in the right hands.
It’s basically a suicide bomber for your cat army. You time the release, it slides into the frontline, survives just long enough to land one hit, and clears the backline. Honestly, once you have Jellycat (the True Form), the way you approach stages with heavy backline support like Master A. or Professor A. completely changes.
The Gatekeeper: Hannya and the Realm of Carnage
To get Slime Cat, you have to beat the Realm of Carnage (Insane) stage. This is a Deadly-level Advent stage. It rotates in and out of the Legend Stages menu, usually appearing a few times a month.
The boss is Hannya. Imagine a giant, floating red mask that breathes fire and has a massive range. Hannya isn't just strong; he has a 100% chance to weaken your cats by 75% for quite a while. If your attackers get hit by that fire breath, they become useless. They'll just stand there tickling the boss while the support enemies—usually Bore and R.Ost—shred your frontline.

This is the barrier. You don't just "play" this stage. You solve it like a puzzle.
The Real Threats in the Stage
Hannya is the big scary mask, but he’s not the one who usually loses you the match. It’s the supporting cast.
- Bore: This red pig is a wall. If you don't have high-level anti-red units like Roe Cat (Sushi Cat's evolved form), Bore will push straight through your base.
- R.Ost: This bird is a nightmare. It has a high crit rate and attacks incredibly fast. If you don't have a way to knock it back or kill it quickly, it will clear your meatshields and leave Hannya free to burn your attackers.
- The Weaken Mechanic: This is what kills most runs. You need units that can either outrange Hannya (which is hard) or units that are "Immune to Weaken."
Best Strategies to Unlock Slime Cat
You need a very specific loadout. Most players fail because they bring generalist attackers that just get weakened and die.
The Roe Cat Carry
If you have Roe Cat at a decent level (30+), use it. Roe Cat has "Resistant" against Red and, more importantly, can survive Hannya’s hits while dealing decent damage. It’s the ultimate meatshield for this stage. Without Roe, you're looking at a much harder fight using things like Crazed Whale or Island Cat.
The "A. Bahamut" Timing
Awakened Bahamut is your primary damage dealer here. But if you spawn him at the wrong time, Hannya will weaken him instantly, and you’ve just wasted 4500¢. You have to wait for a gap. Usually, you wait until the Bore is dead and Hannya has just finished an attack animation. Send in Bahamut to land a few massive hits before he inevitably goes down.

Courier Cat (The Game Changer)
Since the introduction of Courier Cat, this stage has become significantly easier. Courier is a Behemoth Slayer, but more importantly, he is massive against Red enemies. His long-distance (LD) hit can often snip at the boss or clear the smaller peons without getting directly in Hannya’s face. If you’re struggling with Realm of Carnage, go grind some Behemoth Cinders and get Courier Cat first. It makes the "Insane" difficulty feel like "Hard."
Surviving the RNG
Sometimes R.Ost just decides to crit four times in a row. It happens. Don't burn through your Rich Cats or Sniper items if your timing is off.
The goal is to keep the battle line away from your base. Use Dual Whales (Crazed Whale and Island Cat) because they have high HP and deal extra damage to Reds. They can tank a hit from Hannya and keep moving.
Once you deplete Hannya’s health—he has about 1,000,000 HP—he’ll vanish. But don't celebrate yet. If R.Ost is still on the field, he can still end your run. Stay focused until the base is at zero.
Evolution: From Slime to Jelly
When you first get Slime Cat, it’s... okay. It’s useful. But the real power comes from its evolved form, Jellycat.

To get Jellycat, you need to level Slime Cat to level 20. There is no True Form (third form) as of the current version that requires Catfruit, but the level 20 evolution significantly boosts its utility by making it more reliable in timing.
Common Mistakes Most Players Make
- Bringing too many Meatshields: Hannya has area attack. If you spam 5 different meatshields, you're just feeding him money and clogging your unit limit. Use 2 or 3 high-quality shields like Roe or Manic Eraser.
- Ignoring the Weaken: If your attackers are weakened, they are taking up space. It's often better to let them die so you can spawn fresh, un-weakened units once the effect wears off.
- Bad Timing on the Bore: You must kill the Bore fast. If the Bore and R.Ost are on the field at the same time, you've likely lost. Use high DPS anti-reds like Elemental Duelist or even Luxury Bath Cat if you can protect them.
Practical Next Steps for Your Account
Check your calendar for the next appearance of Realm of Carnage. It’s usually part of the "Advent Festival" or pops up on specific dates like the 12th and 13th of the month.
Before the stage arrives, do these three things:
- Level up your Roe Cat. Get it to at least level 30, and if you have the NP, invest in the "Reduce Damage from Reds" talent.
- Unlock Courier Cat. If you haven't done the Behemoth stages yet, prioritize them. Courier is the "cheat code" for getting Slime Cat.
- Watch a frame-data video. Learn exactly when Hannya’s mouth opens to breathe fire. You want your Awakened Bahamut to enter the fray right after that fire disappears.
Getting Slime Cat is a rite of passage. It marks your transition from a mid-game player to someone who can handle the "Deadly" tier of content. It’s a frustrating fight, but that blue blob is worth every single failed attempt. Once you see that level 4 wave wipe out a pack of Shadow Boxer Ks, you’ll never go back.
Focus on your anti-red treasures from the Into the Future and Empire of Cats chapters too. If your treasures aren't at 100%, Hannya will hit way harder than he's supposed to. Go back and grind those gold treasures first if you're getting one-shotted.
Good luck. You're going to need it when R.Ost starts pushing.
