You’ve seen him on the box art. You’ve seen him in the trailers. Grizzbolt is basically the Pikachu of Palworld, if Pikachu was six feet tall, carried a minigun, and looked like he hadn't slept in three weeks. He’s an Electric-type powerhouse that most players desperately want the moment they start their journey in the Palpagos Islands. But here’s the thing—actually finding one in the wild is kind of a nightmare if you don't know exactly where to look.
Most people first encounter Grizzbolt during the tutorial boss fight at the Rayne Syndicate Tower. Zoe and Grizzbolt will probably wreck you the first time you try. It's a wake-up call. After that fight, the hunt is on. You can't catch the boss version (well, you used to be able to via a glitch, but Pocketpair patched that out a long time ago), so you have to find a "natural" one.
How to get Grizzbolt isn't just about wandering around the forest. It requires a specific flight path or a very specific set of parents back at your base. Honestly, breeding is usually the faster way to go, but there's something satisfying about snatching one from a high-security zone.
Where to Find Grizzbolt in the Wild
If you're determined to catch one the old-fashioned way, pack your bags for the No. 1 Wildlife Sanctuary.
This isn't a normal area. It’s located at the very bottom of the map, south of the starting Plateau of Beginnings. You’ll need a swimming Pal like Surfent or, better yet, a flying mount like Nitewing or Vanwyrm to reach it. Just a heads up: being here is technically a crime. The moment you step foot on the island, you’ll get a "Criminal Activity Underway" notification. If the PIDF guards see you, they will open fire.

Grizzbolt is a rare spawn here. He usually shows up around level 20 or so. Because the spawn rate is pretty low, you might have to fly circles around the island to get the spawns to reset. Look for that yellow fur and the derpy grin. When you spot him, use Ground-type Pals like Dumud or Rushoar to whittle down his health. Electric is weak to Ground. Use Giga Spheres at the very least; Mega Spheres will mostly just bounce off his thick hide.
The Breeding Shortcut (How to Get Grizzbolt Early)
If you don't feel like dodging bullets at a sanctuary, you can just play matchmaker. Breeding is the secret sauce of Palworld. To get a Grizzbolt egg, you need two very specific parents: Mossanda and Rayhound.
Mossanda is easy. You can find that big green panda in the Mossanda Forest (shocker, I know) around level 20-25. Rayhound is a bit trickier. It lives in the Dessicated Desert, the big sandy area in the northeast. Rayhounds are fast, Electric-type dogs. Once you have one of each—one male and one female—toss them into a Breeding Farm with a Cake.
The resulting Large Electric Egg will always hatch into a Grizzbolt. This is honestly the best way to get good passive skills on him. If you catch a "wild" one, you’re stuck with whatever traits it has. If you breed one, you can aim for "Legend," "Ferocious," or "Musclehead" to turn your Grizzbolt into a literal god of thunder.

Why You Actually Want a Grizzbolt
It’s not just for the aesthetic. Grizzbolt is a Tier 1 worker for your base.
- Generating Electricity (Level 3): This is huge. Once you start building assembly lines and electric furnaces, you need a Pal who can keep the batteries charged. Grizzbolt is one of the best for this until you get Orserk.
- Handiwork (Level 2): He can help build stuff.
- Lumbering (Level 2): He'll chop trees when he's bored.
- Transporting (Level 3): He carries heavy stacks of resources like a champ.
The real fun, though, is the Grizzbolt’s Minigun. Once you reach Level 18 in the Technology tree, you can craft his Pal Gear. When you activate his partner skill while riding him, he pulls out a massive rotary gun and lets lead fly. It shreds through Alpha Pals and raid groups like tissue paper.
Common Mistakes People Make
Don't go to the sanctuary at night unless you have high-level cold resistance. The temperature drops, and the guards are still just as annoying. Also, don't use Fire-type Pals against him if you're trying to catch him. Fire causes a burn status effect that can accidentally kill the Pal while you're waiting for the Sphere to shake. Stick to Ground moves or just chip away with a Crossbow.
Another thing: Grizzbolt is a big target. In combat, he gets hit by almost everything. If you're using him in a fight against a fast boss like Jetragon, you have to be ready to pull him back into his sphere frequently to dodge big attacks. He’s a tank, but even tanks have limits.

The Mossanda Lux Confusion
I've seen people get Grizzbolt mixed up with Mossanda Lux. They look somewhat similar because they're both big, yellow, and electric, but Mossanda Lux is basically just a variant of the panda. It’s a great Pal, but it’s not Grizzbolt. You find Mossanda Lux as a Field Boss in the Eastern Wild Island area. If you want the minigun-wielding beast, you need the specific Grizzbolt spawn at Sanctuary No. 1 or the Mossanda/Rayhound breeding combo.
Actionable Steps for Your Grizzbolt Hunt
First, check your level. If you aren't at least level 18-20, you’re going to have a hard time either catching or crafting the gear for him.
If you're going the breeding route, head to the Mossanda Forest first. Catch a few pandas until you get one with a decent trait like "Hard Skin" or "Burly Body." Then, make a run to the desert for a Rayhound. Make sure you have a Wheat Plantation and a Mill set up so you can make flour for Cakes; you can't breed without Cake, and it takes a while to cook, so start that process early.
If you're going to the sanctuary, bring a Pal that can fly. Flying allows you to hover over the water to recover stamina and stay out of the direct line of sight of the PIDF guards patrolling the island floor. Use the environment—there are large stone pillars you can hide behind to break combat if the guards spot you. Once the "Wanted" status disappears, you can go back to hunting your Grizzbolt in peace.
Load up on High-Grade Pal Oil too. You'll need it for the polymer used in the minigun later on. Getting the Pal is only half the battle; getting him geared up is where the real power lies.
