Glory to CPSU Part 2: Why You Keep Missing the Journal

Glory to CPSU Part 2: Why You Keep Missing the Journal

Honestly, the Streets of Tarkov map is enough to give anyone a headache even before you add Prapor’s errands to the mix. If you’re stuck on Glory to CPSU Part 2, don’t feel bad. It’s one of those "needle in a haystack" quests where the haystack is a massive, decaying Soviet apartment complex and the needle is a tiny notebook that likes to hide in four different spots.

You’ve probably done the first part, where you had to find the apartment. Now, Prapor wants you to find out what happened to his buddy Oleg. Basically, you’re looking for a journal. It’s small, it’s dark, and if you aren't looking at the exact pixel, you'll walk right past it.

Where to Actually Find the Museum

First things first: you need to get to the "Museum" building. If you're coming from the Expo checkpoint, you'll want to head west. Look for a large, red-brick building. It stands out because most of the other structures in that area are that drab, grey concrete that defines the Tarkov aesthetic.

Once you’re inside, head to the second floor. You’re looking for a specific room that looks like a small living area or office. This is where the RNG (random number generation) starts to mess with you. The journal for Glory to CPSU Part 2 has four confirmed spawn points within this single room. If it's not in the first spot, check the next. Don't just give up and leave.

The Four Journal Spawn Locations

People always ask why they can’t find the quest item. Usually, it’s because they checked the table and left. In Tarkov, you have to be a bit more obsessive.

  1. The Kitchen Drawer: There’s a small kitchenette area. One of the drawers is slightly pulled open. Peek inside there. It’s often tucked right in the corner of the drawer.
  2. The Teddy Bear's Secret: Look for a chair with a stuffed teddy bear on it. Don't ask why it's there; it's Tarkov. The journal is often tucked right behind or beside the bear.
  3. The Glass Cabinet: There’s a display cabinet in the room. Check the bottom compartment on the left side. It’s behind the glass, so it can be hard to see if your lighting settings are weird or if you’re running a night raid without NVGs.
  4. The Bookshelf (Bottom Shelf): This is the one that trips everyone up. On the far bookshelf, on the very bottom shelf, the journal sits on top of a pile of books. It blends in perfectly with the textures of the other book spines.

Surviving the Extract

Finding the journal is only half the battle. This is a "find in raid" item that goes into your special quest inventory. If you die before you extract, it’s gone. You have to go back into the Museum and find it all over again.

Since the Museum is in a relatively high-traffic area near the construction site and the Expo, I’d suggest waiting. If you find the journal early, find a dark corner and hang out for ten minutes. Let the "Chads" finish their business at Lexos or the Mall. Once the raid quietens down, make a break for your extract.

Rewards for Your Trouble

Why are we even doing this? Well, besides the XP (which is a solid 10,100), the rewards are actually pretty decent for a mid-wipe quest:

  • About 50,000 to 57,000 Roubles (depending on your Intelligence Center level).
  • A Tokarev SVT-40 sniper rifle.
  • Two 10-round magazines and some PS ammo.
  • The big one: It unlocks the barter for the Tokarev AVT-40 at Prapor Loyalty Level 3.

The AVT-40 is basically a fully automatic version of the SVT. It’s a budget beast. Being able to buy it reliably can completely change your eco-runs, which is why Glory to CPSU Part 2 is worth the frustration.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

I've seen plenty of players make the same mistakes on this quest. Don't be that guy.

  • Checking only one spawn: As I mentioned, there are four. If it's not in the drawer, check the books.
  • Forgetting the quest is active: The journal only spawns if you have the quest active from Prapor. If you’re just looting the Museum on a whim, you won’t see it.
  • Running out without a plan: The extracts on Streets can be tricky. Know where you’re going (Primal Pass, Underpass, etc.) before you pick up the item.

How to Get it Done Fast

If you want to knock this out in one go, bring a friend. Have one person hold the hallway outside the room while the other checks the four spawn points. It takes about 30 seconds to check all of them if you know where to look. Once you have it, move together toward the nearest extract.

If you're playing solo, use a suppressor. The Museum is a bit of an echo chamber, and unsuppressed shots will draw every Scav and PMC within three blocks.

Next Steps for Your Raid:
Before you load into Streets of Tarkov, double-check that you’ve actually accepted the quest from Prapor. Once you're in the Museum, check the bookshelf first, as it's the most commonly missed spot. After you successfully extract, don't forget to manually "Hand Over" the journal in the tasks menu to unlock your AVT-40 barter.
