You’re staring at your map in the White House, looking for that green diamond or a waypoint that actually makes sense. It says "Talk with Wally about the program," but the marker is literally trolling you. It points to a wall or a floor in the Base of Operations where nobody exists. Honestly, it’s one of the most annoying bugs in The Division 2 right now.
I’ve spent way too much time circling the East Wing like a lost tourist. If you're looking for the Division 2 Wally location, stop looking in DC. You’re in the wrong place. Basically, the game’s UI is lying to you.
Where is Wally actually hiding?
Wally—real name Candice Wallace—isn't at the White House. She’s at the Castle Settlement in the East Mall.
If you haven't played in a while, the Castle used to be a grayed-out, chemical-bombed graveyard. It’s vibrant now. People are actually living there. When you fast travel to the Castle, do not follow the waypoint if it tries to drag you back to your map screen.
Instead, do this:
- Fast travel to the Castle Settlement.
- Once you load in, turn left immediately.
- Look for the "HQ" signs or the area where the vendors sit.
- Wally is a woman in a white tank top sitting behind a desk in a shipping container/mobile unit.
- She’s right next to the Descent entrance and the specialized vendor.
It is super easy to walk right past her because she looks like a regular NPC. She doesn't have a giant "Wally" sign over her head. But once you get close, the dialogue should trigger.
Why the White House marker is broken
So, why does the game tell you she's at the White House?
The mission prompt "Talk with Wally" usually triggers after you finish the Aaron Keener manhunt or certain Warlords of New York content. Because the White House is the "primary" hub, the game’s logic defaults the mission start point there. It’s a classic Ubisoft ghost-marker.
I’ve talked to guys who reinstalled their entire game thinking the mission was glitched. Don't do that. Just go to the East Mall.
The "Descent" Connection
Wally is your gateway to Descent. This is the rogue-lite mode where you lose all your gear and start with a pistol. It's actually a great way to farm exotic components if you can stomach the grind.

Sometimes, even after you talk to her, the mission won't "clear" from your UI. To fix this, you usually have to actually walk down the stairs next to her—where the yellow "D" icon is—and interact with the Descent terminal. You don't even have to start a match. Just open the menu, let the dialogue finish, and the mission should finally pop as "Complete."
The "Other" Wally: Hunter Masks and Misconceptions
There’s a lot of confusion in the community because "Wally" sounds like it could be a code name for a secret Hunter. If you’re here looking for a secret mask location, you might be thinking of the Waldo/Wally easter egg or just the general Hunter puzzles.
In the Battle for Brooklyn DLC, things get way more complicated. People often mix up NPC names with the names of the masks. If you're hunting for the new 2026 masks like Necronos or Lumen, those aren't tied to Wally.
Quick Checklist for Hunter Spawns:
- Check the clock: Most Hunter puzzles (except the Demon mask) only work after 21:00.
- Photo Mode trick: If you aren't sure what time it is, open Photo Mode. The current in-game time is displayed in the corner.
- Don't die: If you’re doing the 4-Hunter fight at the Christmas tree (Cross, Death, Diamond, Phantom), dying often resets the instance.
Actionable Steps to Fix Your Map
If you’re still stuck with that annoying "Talk to Wally" text on your screen, follow these exact steps to clear it:

- Step 1: Travel to the Castle. If she isn't interacting, log out and log back in while standing inside the settlement. This forces the NPC scripts to reload.
- Step 2: Walk past the crafting station. Wally is tucked into a little alcove on the left side of the main path.
- Step 3: Trigger the "Descent" intro. Even if you hate the game mode, you have to initiate the sequence for the mission to disappear.
- Step 4: Check your projects. Sometimes "Talk to Wally" is gated behind a project that requires you to donate 50 electronics. Check your map's "Projects" tab to see if there's a prerequisite you missed.
The Castle Settlement is actually useful now, so it's worth getting used to the layout. Between the Descent vendor and the new Manhunt briefings, you'll be spending a lot of time there anyway.
Stop running around the White House basement. She’s not there. She never was. Go to the Castle, talk to the woman in the shipping container, and get back to the actual game.
