Finding the Cult of Kosmos locations in AC Odyssey without losing your mind

Tracking down every single one of the Cult of Kosmos locations in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a massive grind. Honestly, it’s the meat of the game. You aren't just playing a historical RPG; you're basically a 5th-century bounty hunter dismantling a proto-Templar shadow government. Most people think you just follow the main quest and they’ll all pop up eventually. They won't. You have to hunt them.

The map is huge. Like, stupidly huge. If you’re just sailing around hoping to stumble onto a cultist, you’re going to spend fifty hours doing nothing but looking at blue water. The game expects you to be a detective. You find a clue on a dead body, or in a chest in some random fort, and suddenly a new icon appears on the map. But even then, the game gets vague. "The cultist is in Attika." Great, thanks, Ubisoft. Attika is a whole province.

Where the Eyes of Kosmos are actually hiding

The Eyes are the first branch most players finish. They're low level. They're manageable. But even these "easy" ones have some weird requirements that trip people up. Take Elpenor. You kill him early, that’s scripted. But the others?

Sotera is tucked away in the Port of Nisaia in Megaris. She's just standing there on the docks. If you aren't looking for her, she looks like any other NPC until you get close enough for the red icon to trigger. Then there’s The Master. You can’t just find him. You have to do the "A Life's Worth" side quest in Attika. It’s near the Silver Mountain. If you haven't triggered that specific quest, he basically doesn't exist in the game world. It's a bit of a weird design choice because it gates progression behind a seemingly random side mission about a slave and a philosopher.

Hermippos is another one tied to side quests. You’ve got to do "Free Speech" in Athens. He’s a famous playwright, which is a cool touch—the Cult isn't just soldiers; they're the cultural elite. Midas is just walking around Argos. He’s the easiest of the bunch. You literally just walk up and stab him in the street.

The Silver Vein and those annoying underwater clues

This branch is a headache. Why? Because half of them are in the middle of nowhere or require specific naval combat. Epiktetos the Forthcoming is a freebie at the Cultist meeting, but the rest? You're going to be traveling.

The Chimera is on the island of Andros. She’s at the south end in a camp. Simple enough. But The Centaur of Euboea is annoying. He’s in the Abandoned Mine. The clue for him is in another mine. It’s a lot of crawling through dark tunnels. Then you have The Silver Griffin. He’s on a tiny little rock called Prasonisia Island, south of Mykonos. If you don't have the clue from the Silver Mine in Attika, you’ll never find him.

The worst is Machaon the Feared. His clue is on a dead body on the Scavenger's Coast in Achaia. It’s just a random corpse on a beach. If you don't happen to walk over it, you’re stuck. Once you have it, he’s in the Patrai shipyard. He’s heavily guarded. Don't go in hot. Use the Ikaros bird to tag everyone first. Seriously.

Delian League cultists and the Peloponnesian War

The Delian League branch is heavily tied to the naval side of the game. If you hate the Adrestia, you're gonna have a bad time here. Most of these guys are on ships.

  • Iobates the Stoic: He’s on Lemnos. He’s in a fort. High level, bring gear.
  • Kodros the Bull: You find him on Lesbos. You have to kill Titos in the arena first to get the clue.
  • Rhexenor the Hand: He’s in Athens, but only during a specific main quest chapter in Act 8.
  • Podarkes the Cruel: You have to trigger the rebellion on Mykonos. It’s a whole "Silver Islands" questline. Kill him in his villa or during the battle.

Then there’s the Sage, Kleon the Everyman. You can’t miss him. He’s a major part of the story. But you can't kill him early. The game protects him with plot armor until a specific battle in Makedonia. It’s frustrating when you know someone is a cultist but the game won't let you draw your sword near them yet.

Heroes of the Cult: The heavy hitters

These guys are warriors. They’re usually in camps or forts, and they actually fight back. Pallas the Silencer is a pain. He only shows up during the Conquest Battle for Achaia, and specifically, you have to fight for Athens. If you fight for Sparta, he doesn’t spawn. The game doesn't explicitly tell you that, which leads to a lot of players winning the battle and wondering why the cultist didn't show up.

Belos the Beast of Sparta is in the Arena. Just fight your way through the champions. He’s level 29. If you’re underleveled, he will wreck you. Swordfish is hiding in a cave in Messara. You have to do the "Myths and Minotaurs" questline. He’s gone crazy because of the "monster" nearby. It’s actually one of the better written encounters because he’s genuinely terrified of you.

Okytos the Great is at the Sanctuary of Sounion in Attika. He’s right at the southern tip of the map. He’s usually surrounded by guards, but you can snipe him from the cliffs if you’re patient.

Worshippers of the Bloodline: Hidden in plain sight

This branch is weirdly spread out. Zoisme is way up north in Malis, at the Wild Bear location. She’s just... in a cave. By herself. Kind of pathetic for a member of a world-controlling cult.

Chrysis is the one everyone hates. You encounter her during the main quest in Argolis. She’s the one who tries to kill the baby. If you save the baby, she escapes. You then have to find her later in a side quest called "Death Comes to Us All." Just save yourself the trouble and kill her at the altar if you don't care about the baby (kidding, sort of).

Diona is on Kythera. You have to do her whole questline where she has a twin sister. It’s a "who-is-the-real-one" trope. Pro tip: The one who is acting all seductive and weird is the cultist. Melite is in Messara, in Kresilas' Residence. High security. Harpalos is in a cave on Keos. The "Deep Cave." It’s easy to miss the entrance.

Gods of the Aegean Sea: Clear the decks

This is purely naval. You need to upgrade your ship. If your hull isn't at least legendary level, these fleets will sink you in seconds.

The Mytilenian Shark is sailing between Samos and Kos. His ship has purple sails. Asterion is usually south of Skyros. The Octopus is down by Thera, sailing with a massive escort. Melanthos is near Messara.

The Sage here is The Hydra. He’s in the far southwest corner of the map. He’s got a fleet of about five ships. Don't try to board him immediately. Sink the smaller ships first. Use fire arrows. Lots of fire arrows.

The Peloponnesian League and the Spartan Kings

This is where the political intrigue peaks. You’ve got Skylax the Fair on Euboea; he’s a leader, so you can actually weaken his region to make him easier to kill. Monger is in Korinth. You deal with him in the theater (or the cave, depending on your choices with Anthousa).

Lagos the Archon is in Arkadia. You can actually convince him to leave the cult if you killed the Monger quietly in the cave earlier. If you killed the Monger in the theater, Lagos will never trust you and you’ll have to kill him. Actions have consequences.

The big twist is Pausanias. He’s one of the two kings of Sparta. You have to gather clues to prove he’s a cultist so the other king will exile him. If you get it wrong, the guards will attack you in the throne room. Once he’s exiled, he’s just a guy walking down the road. Stabbing him then feels incredibly satisfying after all the political maneuvering.

Actionable steps for your hunt

Don't just run around aimlessly. If you want to clear the Cult of Kosmos locations efficiently, follow this order:

  1. Check your clues: Open the Cultists menu. Hover over the shadows. It tells you exactly what you need. "Help people in Delos" means do the side quests there.
  2. Kill the Leaders: If a region is controlled by a Cultist (like Skylax or Podarkes), lower the nation power first. It pulls them out of their fortified villas and makes them vulnerable.
  3. The Arena is your friend: Two cultist clues are tied to defeating specific opponents in the Pephka arena. Go there around level 25.
  4. Farm the Silver Mine: The Silver Mine in Attika (Lavrio) holds clues for multiple cultists. Just clear the whole place out early.
  5. Side quests aren't optional: If a cultist is "undiscovered," look for gold "!" icons in the sub-region mentioned. It’s almost always a quest reward.

The Ghost of Kosmos is the final reveal. No spoilers, but pay attention to the dialogue in the early chapters. The clues are right there in front of you the whole time. Once you have every other cultist dead, go back to the basement in Delphi. That’s where it all ends.

Stop fast-traveling everywhere. Some of the best clues come from random encounters or mercenary drops that only happen when you're actually exploring the roads. The Cult is everywhere in Greece, and half the fun is realizing the local politician you just helped is actually the person trying to ruin your family. Good luck.
