You’ve probably spent hours ripping through the Mexican desert in a desert-prepped Bronco, staring at those giant purple circles and wondering why on earth the game won’t let you open the door. It’s annoying. We’ve all been there. You find the literal barn, you see the rusted metal, but there’s no cutscene.
Basically, FH5 barn find locations aren’t just about where you drive; they’re about when the game decides you’re "worthy" to find them. If you don't have the rumor, you don't have the car. Period.
Honestly, the map in Forza Horizon 5 is massive. It’s a gorgeous, chaotic mix of jungles and volcanoes. But those 14 hidden cars? They are the soul of the game. From the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO to a quirky Renault 4L Export, these aren't just vehicles. They’re projects.
The Logistics of the Hunt
First thing’s first: stop driving aimlessly. You need rumors. Most people think you just stumble on these by luck, but that’s only half true. You get rumors by completing expeditions, buying specific houses, or just gaining enough Accolades to make the Horizon bigwigs notice you.
If you’re the type who wants it all now, you can buy the Treasure Map DLC. It’ll just put the icons on the map. But where’s the fun in that?
If you're doing it the old-fashioned way, use Drone Mode. It’s tucked away in the Creative Hub menu. It’s faster than any car for scouting dense jungles or the side of a volcano. When the drone finds the barn, the purple circle on your map turns into a fixed icon. Much better.
Every Barn Find and How to Actually Trigger Them
I’ve spent way too much time tracking these down. Here is the real-deal list of the cars and the weirdly specific spots they’re hiding in.

The "Special" Unlocks
Some cars won't show up just by driving around. You have to do something specific.
- 1963 Volkswagen Beetle (The Vocho): You can't miss this if you play the story. It’s part of the "Vocho" Horizon Story. Just play through the chapters. Alejandra will basically hand it to you.
- 1991 Jaguar Sport XJR-15: This one is a bit of a trick. You need to start the Jungle Expedition. While you’re at the abandoned airport (Aeródromo en la Selva), you have to find the "Lost Barn Find Notes" in one of the hangars. Once you grab those, the barn is right there on the edge of the airfield.
- 1970 GMC Jimmy: Go to the Apex Expedition. You’ll head to the Tulum ruins. You have to reach the top of the central ruin to trigger the rumor. The barn itself is tucked away in the marshes of Cascadas de Agua Azul.
- 1967 Ford Racing Escort MK1: This is tied to the Baja Expedition. You have to collect a "lake sample" from the volcanic hot springs. Do that, and the rumor pops. You’ll find the barn on the side of the La Gran Caldera volcano.
- 1968 Renault 4L Export: This is the one that trips everyone up. You must buy the La Cabaña house (it costs 150,000 Credits) in the northwest. No house, no Renault. Simple as that.
The "Random" Rumors
These pop up as you play. There’s no secret formula—just keep winning races and earning Accolades.
1962 Ferrari 250 GTO
This is the big one. The holy grail. It’s located in the northeast, near Los Jardines. Look for a small dirt trail off a secondary road. It’s nestled in a heavily wooded area. Honestly, it’s a pain to find because of the trees. Use the drone.
1989 Ferrari F40 Competizione
Head to the southeast. It’s near the Riviera Maya. The barn is east of the Horizon Apex outpost. If you find yourself in the swamp, you’ve gone too far west. It’s hidden in a cluster of trees near the coast.
1953 Chevrolet Corvette
Near Tierra Próspera. Look for the main highway and look just south of it. It’s in a field. Look for a small bridge over a stream; the barn is right near there.
1999 Dodge Viper GTS ACR
Deep in the Gran Pantano (the jungle). It’s almost exactly where the "A" in Pantano is on the map. It’s thick with trees here, so don't expect to see it from the road.

1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS
Back to the volcano! It’s on the eastern slopes of La Gran Caldera. There’s a snaking mountain road; the barn is on a lower ledge off one of the sharp hairpins.
1956 Ford F-100
In the fields south of Tierra Próspera. This one is actually pretty easy to spot because the area is flat. Look for a blue shed nearby—it stands out way more than the barn itself.
1968 Ford Mustang GT 2+2 Fastback
North of Guanajuato. Just take the main road out of the city heading northeast. You’ll see a dirt path with two fences. Follow that straight to the barn.
1968 Dodge Dart Hemi Super Stock
Teotihuacán. The barn is just south of the ruins. If you’re looking at the pyramids, head toward the farmlands to the south. It’s right on the edge of a field.
1973 BMW 2002 Turbo
North of Guanajuato, near the hills. It’s right off the main road in a small clearing. Look for a motorcycle parked outside a building nearby.
1993 Toyota #1 T100 Baja Truck
Southwest area, near the crop circles (De Otro Mundo). It’s basically sitting in the middle of a field. If you see the giant circles in the grass, you're within shouting distance.

FH5 Barn Find Locations: Why You’re Still Waiting
So you found the barn, Alejandra took the car, and now... nothing?
Restoration takes time. A lot of it. The Ferrari 250 GTO is notorious for this. It can take several real-time hours—sometimes days—of gameplay before it’s ready. You’ll get a notification when it’s done.
If you're impatient (and rich), you can pay Credits to speed it up. But honestly, unless you have millions to burn, just go race something else. The car will be waiting for you in the "Barn Finds" tab of your Garage eventually.
The Gift Drop Twist
FH5 added something cool: Gift Drops. Once you've found a barn, you can actually leave cars there for other players. It’s a nice way to dump those duplicate Willspins you don't want.
But a word of warning—you can’t get those cars back once you send them. And you can’t sell Barn Find cars on the Auction House. They are yours forever, or until you gift them to a "New Player" to make their day.
Actionable Next Steps
- Check your Accolades: If rumors aren't popping, you probably haven't done enough "Horizon Adventure" chapters. Focus on the Expeditions first.
- Buy La Cabaña: If you're missing the Renault, this is literally the only way to get it.
- Abuse Drone Mode: Don't waste time driving into trees. Fly over them.
- Check the Garage Tab: Sometimes the restoration is finished, but the game is "quiet" about it. Manually check the Barn Finds menu to claim your ride.
Getting all the FH5 barn find locations cleared is a rite of passage. It takes a mix of story progression and old-school scouting, but seeing that 250 GTO sitting in your garage with a fresh coat of Italian Red? Totally worth the headache.
