Elden Ring Corhyn Questline: Why Most People Fail This Ending

Elden Ring Corhyn Questline: Why Most People Fail This Ending

You’re standing in the Roundtable Hold. There’s a guy in a robe with a literal wheel around his neck. That’s Brother Corhyn. At first, he’s just the "incantation guy," but honestly, he’s the gatekeeper to the most philosophically dense ending in the game. If you want the Age of Order, you’ve gotta stick with him.

The Elden Ring Corhyn questline is notorious for being easy to break. One wrong move or progressing too far into the main story, and poof—Corhyn is dead or gone, and Goldmask is just a silent statue on a bridge. You don't want that. You want that Mending Rune of Perfect Order.

Getting Corhyn Out of the House

Basically, Corhyn doesn't do anything until you reach the Altus Plateau. Once you’ve touched a Site of Grace up there, head back to the Hold. Talk to him. He’ll tell you he’s leaving to find the noble Goldmask.

This is where people get confused. He doesn't just teleport to Goldmask. He’s standing on the side of the road in Altus, right near the map fragment pillar north of the Altus Highway Junction. If you haven't found the map yet, just look for the giant stone beacon on your map. He’s right there, looking lost.

Finding the Silent Master

Now you need to find Goldmask. He’s on the massive broken bridge in the north of Altus Plateau.

  • The Shortcut: Use the spirit spring near the bridge or the waygate at the Forest-Spanning Greatbridge Site of Grace.
  • The Interaction: You’ll find a tall, thin man pointing at the Erdtree. He won't talk. He just... points.
  • The Loop: Go back to Corhyn. Tell him where Goldmask is. Rest at a grace, then go back to the bridge. They’ll be together now.

The Leyndell Riddle and the 37 Intelligence Wall

Once you get into the Royal Capital, things get weird. You’ll find the duo on a cliff near the Coliseum. Corhyn is starting to doubt his master because Goldmask has stopped moving entirely. He’s stuck on a mathematical riddle about the Golden Order.

To fix this, you need the Law of Regression.

You find the prayerbook (Golden Order Principia) in the Erdtree Sanctuary. It’s literally hanging from a chair on the ceiling. You have to climb a root, go outside, jump on a roof, and come back in through a window to get it. Give that book to Corhyn (or Turtle Pope, but Corhyn is right there) and buy the spell.

Here is the catch: Law of Regression requires 37 Intelligence.

If you’re a pure Strength or Dexterity build, this feels like a middle finger from FromSoftware. You don't necessarily have to respec at Rennala, though. You can stack gear: the Hierodas Glintstone Crown, the Stargazer Heirloom, the Intelligence-knot Crystal Tear in your flask, and maybe Grafted Blade Greatsword’s buff. Do whatever it takes to hit that number.

Solving the Statue Puzzle

Go down the elevator from the Erdtree Sanctuary. There’s a statue of Radagon. Stand on the message that says "Regression alone reveals secrets" and cast the spell.

The statue transforms.

It becomes Marika.

A new message appears: Radagon is Marika. Go back to Goldmask. Tell him the secret. He’ll give you the Golden Order Totality gesture, which is basically a fancy T-pose. This is the moment the quest is "saved." If you don't do this before finishing the next major area, you’re locked out.

The Mountaintops and the Ash

After the capital, you’ll find them again in the Mountaintops of the Giants. They are on a bridge south of the Stargazer Ruins. Corhyn sounds like he’s losing his mind. He’s realizing that the "perfection" Goldmask is seeking might actually imply that the gods themselves are the problem.

Deep stuff, right?

Keep playing. Beat Maliketh. Once Leyndell turns into the Capital of Ash, you need to find Goldmask one last time. He’s not in the main city area; he’s further south, past the dead dragon, heading toward the lower cliffs of the Coliseum.

You’ll find his body. On it is the Mending Rune of Perfect Order.

What happened to Corhyn?

Depending on whether you gave him the Tonic of Forgetfulness (from the Volcano Manor quest), he’ll either be at the bridge in the Mountaintops or in the Capital of Ash. If he’s in the Ash, he’s usually kneeling near the spiral spear, completely broken. You can kill him for his bell bearing and robe, or just leave him to his misery. Honestly, it's pretty grim either way.

Actionable Tips for a Smooth Run

If you’re attempting this right now, keep these things in mind to avoid a restart:

  • Don't Burn the Tree Yet: If you kill Maliketh before telling Goldmask that Radagon is Marika, the quest ends instantly. Do the statue puzzle as soon as you hit Leyndell.
  • The Intelligence Buff Stack: Don't waste a Larval Tear. Use the Ruler's Mask (+3), Stargazer Heirloom (+5), Marika's Scarseal/Soreseal (+3 or +5), and the Intelligence-knot Crystal Tear (+10). That’s a massive +23 Int boost right there.
  • Check the Bridge: If Corhyn isn't at the Highway Junction, check the Roundtable Hold again. Sometimes his dialogue needs to be "exhausted" three or four times before he actually moves.

This quest is the only way to get the "Gold" version of the Elden Lord ending. It’s the ending where you basically tell the gods to stop being so fickle and follow the rules. It’s cold, it’s logical, and it’s exactly what Goldmask wanted. Go get that rune.

Next Step: Make sure you have the Golden Order Principia from the rafters of the Erdtree Sanctuary before you fight Godfrey's shade, as it makes the backtracking much easier.
