Honestly, unlocking the Beast in Disney Dreamlight Valley feels like a bit of a marathon compared to some of the other characters. You’d think once you find Belle in that massive library, you’re home free. Not even close. A Prince in Disguise is the final hurdle you have to clear before the Beast actually agrees to move into your Valley, and it’s surprisingly tricky if you aren't paying close attention to Lumiere’s riddles.
Most players get stuck on the "hidden" locations. The game gives you these poetic clues, but if you're just running around the Beauty and the Beast Realm aimlessly, you're going to waste a lot of time.
Basically, the Beast is feeling incredibly insecure. He wants to give Belle a gift, but he’s locked his Enchanted Mirror in a chest and—classic Disney drama—the key is broken into three pieces and scattered across the castle.
Finding the Key Pieces in A Prince in Disguise
The first thing you’ve got to do is track down those three key fragments. Lumiere left clues, but they require you to use your Royal Tools in ways you might not expect inside a Realm.
The Hot Place
"Hidden in a hot place" is the first one. Head straight to the Library. Look at the massive fireplace—the one that’s actually lit. You need to pull out your Watering Can and douse the flames. It feels a bit wrong to just dump water in the middle of a library, but once the fire is out, a key piece will pop right out.

Where Silence Roars
This one is a total pun. "In a place where silence roars" refers to the lion statues. Go back out toward the West Wing. You’ll see these stone lions flanking the hallway. Don’t just look at them; pull out your Pickaxe and smash the one on the right.
The Thorny Place
The final piece is "hidden in a thorny place." This isn't inside the castle. You need to head out into the garden area, specifically the center of the hedge maze near the rose bushes. There’s a sparkling dig spot right in the middle of the greenery. Use your Shovel to unearth the last fragment.
Once you have all three, go back to the Beast. You can use the key on the chest right behind him to grab the Enchanted Mirror. But even after seeing the mirror, the Beast realizes Belle would actually prefer something a bit more... literary.
Crafting the Book Kit for Belle
The Beast decides a Book Kit is the way to go, but since he’s stuck in the Realm, you’re the one doing the legwork in the Valley. You’ll need to head back through the portal to gather materials.

You’re going to need:
- 20 Fiber: You can craft this from Seaweed. Since 1 Seaweed makes 5 Fiber, you only need to catch 4 pieces of Seaweed.
- 3 Purple Falling Penstemon: These grow in the Plaza. If you don't see them, pick up every other flower to force a respawn.
- 1 Empty Vial: Craft this using 3 Glass (which requires Sand and Coal Ore).
- 1 Feather: This is the part that trips people up. You have to go talk to Scrooge McDuck. Surprisingly, the old miser gives it to you for free.
Take all of that to a crafting station and make the Book Kit. It’s located under the "Functional Items" tab.
The Beast’s Grooming Materials
After you hand over the Book Kit, the Beast gets cold feet. He’s worried about his appearance before he apologizes to Belle. He’ll ask you to find three specific grooming items hidden in his room (the West Wing).
- Beast’s Brush: This is tucked inside a wooden chest near the door.
- Princely Cologne: You’ll find this on a small round table right near where the Beast stands.
- Princely Shampoo: This one is by the bathtub, hidden slightly behind the privacy screen.
Give him the gear, and he’ll finally go talk to Belle. You just have to stand there and "listen" to the conversation. It’s actually a pretty sweet moment where he finally starts to let his guard down.

Bringing the Beast Home
The quest technically doesn't end in the Realm. Once the apology is over, talk to Belle. She’ll give you the Beast’s Castle (which is huge, by the way). You need to head back to the Valley, open your Furniture menu, and find a spot for it.
Be warned: it costs 20,000 Star Coins to actually build it once you click on the Scrooge sign.
After the castle is up, Belle arrives immediately. But the Beast is still lingering in the Realm, probably overthinking things. Belle will give you a note to take back to him. Run back to the Beauty and the Beast Realm, hand him the note, and he’ll finally make the jump to the Valley.
Actionable Next Steps
- Check your inventory for Seaweed: Before leaving the Realm to craft the Book Kit, make sure you have enough Seaweed. Fishing outside of the bubbles on Dazzle Beach is the fastest way to get it.
- Clear space in the Forest of Valor: The Beast’s Castle is one of the larger player-placed buildings. Many players find it fits best in the Forest of Valor or the Frosted Heights due to its "Enchanted" aesthetic.
- Start hoarding flowers: Once the Beast moves in, his friendship quests (like "The Beast With No Bite") require a lot of foraging. Keeping a chest full of Plaza and Meadow flowers will save you hours later.
- Talk to Scrooge early: Don't wait until you have the other materials to get the Feather. You can grab it from him as soon as the objective pops up.
The Beast might seem grumpy at first, but once you finish A Prince in Disguise, he becomes a really useful villager, especially since his friendship track eventually unlocks the Greenhouse where you can get free flowers every day.
