You've finally made it to the second act of the A Rift in Time expansion, and everything is going great until you hit a wall—literally. EVE is staring at a computer console in the Ancient Ruins, and all she can say is that it basically doesn't speak her language. This kicks off the Disney Dreamlight Valley Does Not Compute quest, and honestly, if you're feeling a bit lost looking at that blurry map she gives you, you're definitely not the only one.
The map EVE hands over is... well, it’s a bit of a mess. It cuts off half the island and the icons are kinda vague. If you've been wandering around the Wild Tangle or the Glittering Dunes wondering why your Hourglass isn't pinging or why you can't find a specific sparkle, it's usually because the game's internal "logic" for where these items are hidden doesn't quite match the visual cues on that drawing.
Tracking Down the Five Ancient Artifacts
The first real hurdle is finding five specific items scattered across Eternity Isle. You aren't just using your Hourglass for all of these; you’ll need your shovel, pickaxe, and fishing rod too.
- The Ancient Processor Blueprint: This one is the big troublemaker. It's located in the secret room behind the waterfall in Ancient’s Landing (the Docks area). You have to use your Royal Hourglass here. A lot of players report that it simply doesn't spawn. If you’ve been waving your staff around for ten minutes and nothing is happening, save your game, fully close it, and restart. That usually forces the "time hole" to actually appear near the little pool inside that cave.
- The Ancient Slate: Head over to the Overlook area. Look for a golden fishing ripple in the water near the secret beach area where EVE and WALL-E have their little hideaway. Just cast your line and pull it up. Easy.
- The Ancient Processor Crystal: You need to go to the Courtyard. If you head to the far right (east) through the tunnels to the spot where you first found the Timebending Table, there’s a dig spot. Use your shovel on the sparkle.
- The Ancient Power Sphere: This is tucked away in the Wild Tangle, specifically in The Grasslands. Look for the large circular stone monument/statue. You’ll need to dig near the base of it. Some people find it a bit further east toward the edge of the floating platforms, so keep your eyes peeled for that gold glow in the ground.
- The Ancient Dictionary: This is in Gaston's old camp within the Glittering Dunes. Don't look for a dig spot here; you actually need your pickaxe. There is a specific, oddly colored rock mound near some broken barrels in the corner of his campsite. Smash it, and the dictionary pops out.
Crafting the Ancient Processor
Once you have those five, the game expects you to have some "basic" Timebending materials on hand. You’ll need 3 Ancient Gears, 3 Ancient Plates, and 3 Ancient Magnets.
If you don't have these, you're going to be doing a lot of Timebending loops around the Isle. They aren't super rare, but the RNG can be a pain. Once you have the full set, head to a Timebending Table (not a regular crafting station!) and look under the "Quest" tab to assemble the Ancient Processor. Give it to EVE, and she’ll realize she still needs an adapter to actually "talk" to the ruins.
The Photography Phase: EVE’s House
EVE needs "inspiration" for the adapter, which is a fancy way of saying she wants you to go to her house and take pictures of her furniture. This part is actually pretty simple, but the descriptions are a bit cryptic.
- Something round with holes: This is the table to the left of the door.
- A power output: Take a photo of her bed (the glowing pod).
- Glossy globes: Point your camera at the ceiling lights.
Pro-tip: You don't actually need three separate perfectly framed photos. Most players find that just standing in the middle of the room and taking a wide-angle "selfie" that catches all these items in the background satisfies the quest requirements instantly.

Gathering the Universal Adapter Materials
Now comes the "grind" part. EVE needs a Universal Adapter, and the recipe is fairly resource-heavy if you haven't been hoarding materials.
- 10 Oasis Glass: Dig anywhere in the Glittering Dunes (The Plains, Wastes, or Borderlands).
- 15 Plastic Scrap: This is the one that trips people up. You have to fish in open water (away from the bubbles/ripples) anywhere around Eternity Isle.
- 15 Copper: Mine any of the copper-colored rocks or regular rock spots across the island.
- 2 Brass Ingots: These are crafted at a regular workbench using Copper, Zinc (mined in the Wild Tangle), and Coal.
- 3 Mechanical Parts: You craft these using Brass and Bronze Ingots.
Basically, you’re looking at a lot of mining and fishing. Once you have everything, go to a regular crafting station (Functional Items tab), make the Universal Adapter, and hand it over.
Why This Quest Matters for the Story
Completing Disney Dreamlight Valley Does Not Compute isn't just about finishing a checklist for EVE. It’s a mandatory prerequisite for the "A Bit of Help from Your Friends" quest, which is what eventually lets you unlock Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.
You also need to finish the individual quests for Gaston (Hero's Pose) and Rapunzel (All the Right Notes) before you can fully power up the Ancient Ruins. The "Does Not Compute" segment is essentially the "tech" arm of the puzzle—EVE provides the interface, Gaston provides the muscle (upgrading your pickaxe to break the ruins' rubble), and Rapunzel provides the melody for the musical puzzle.
Troubleshooting Common Bugs
Aside from the Waterfall Blueprint bug mentioned earlier, some players find that the "Ancient Slate" gold ripple doesn't appear in the Overlook. If that happens, try fishing out all the other ripples in that area to force a respawn.
Also, make sure you aren't trying to craft the Universal Adapter at the Timebending Table; it’s a standard workbench item. If you have the materials but don't see the recipe, double-check that you’ve actually finished the dialogue with EVE after the photo shoot.
Next Steps for Success
- Restart the game immediately if the blueprint doesn't show up behind the waterfall; it saves hours of frustration.
- Check your "Functional Items" tab at a standard workbench for the final adapter, not the Timebending tab.
- Clear the other Act 2 quests for Gaston and Rapunzel simultaneously, as you'll need all three characters ready to enter the lower levels of the ruins once the adapter is finished.
