Deltarune Chapter 1 All Secrets: The Weird Stuff You Definitely Missed

Deltarune Chapter 1 All Secrets: The Weird Stuff You Definitely Missed

Honestly, playing a Toby Fox game without poking every single wall is basically like eating a pizza and throwing away the crust. You're missing the best part. Deltarune Chapter 1 might feel like a straightforward "heroes save the world" story on the surface, but once you start digging into Deltarune Chapter 1 all secrets, things get weird fast.

From a man handing out eggs in a dimension that shouldn't exist to a jester who will absolutely wreck your entire party in two turns, there is a lot of ground to cover.

The Mystery of the Man and the Egg

If you’ve spent any time in the Deltarune community, you’ve heard about "The Egg." It’s become a bit of a meme, but finding it is actually kind of spooky.

To find this, you need to be in the Forest area. There’s a specific screen—the one right after the "scene" with the bird that shoots stars at you. If you walk back and forth between the room with the star-walking bird and the next area enough times, you might trigger a rare 1/50 chance.

Suddenly, the music stops. You’re in a silent room with a single tree.

If you walk behind the tree, the game tells you "well, there is a man here." He gives you an Egg. That’s it. He doesn't say anything. He just... exists. If you leave and come back, the room is gone. What makes this a top-tier secret is that the Egg follows you back to the Light World. You can actually put it in Asgore’s fridge at the end of the chapter.

Jevil: The Boss That Will Break Your Soul

You can’t talk about secrets in this game without mentioning Jevil. He’s the secret boss locked in the basement of Card Castle, and he is notoriously harder than the actual final boss of the chapter.

To even see him, you have to collect three broken key pieces:

  1. Broken Key A: Talk to Seam (the shopkeeper) after you've visited the prison floor in the castle. He’ll just give it to you.
  2. Broken Key B: This one is in a chest in the Forest, specifically the area with the spinning paper dancers. You have to find a hidden path at the bottom of the screen where the stars aren't shining.
  3. Broken Key C: This is inside a chest in the Field area, behind a puzzle. The combination is Diamond, Heart, Club, Spade (the order of the floors in the castle).

Once you have all three, take them to Malius the smith to fix them. Warning: Jevil is a nightmare. If you beat him by "tiring him out" (Pacifist), you get the Jevilstail, which is great for defense. If you beat him by attacking (Violent), you get the Devilsknife, a massive axe for Susie.

The Original Starwalker

There’s a character in the Forest who is "pissed off" by the birds. This is the Original Starwalker.

Most people just run past the bird that shoots stars at them, ring the bell, and keep going. But if you ring the bell to get rid of the "fake" bird and then immediately backtrack to the start of that room, the Original Starwalker will be standing there.

If you talk to him, he’ll start showing up in later chapters as a recurring gag (and even joins your "key items" eventually). It’s a small detail, but it’s one of those things that makes the world feel lived-in and bizarre.

Don't Forget the Trash and the Onions

There are smaller, "blink and you'll miss it" secrets scattered throughout Hometown and the Dark World too:

  • Onionsan: In Hometown, if you go to the lake at the far south and stand on the dock for a few seconds, Onionsan (from Undertale) pops up. He's lonely and wants to be your friend. It’s sweet, but also kinda melancholy.
  • The Moss: In the jail cell, there is a patch of moss in the corner. If you interact with it, Kris eats it. This starts a running joke about Kris’s obsession with moss that continues into Chapter 2.
  • The Wristwatch: If you check the sink in your house enough times, you'll find some flavor text about a watch.

How to Make Your Secrets Count

If you're looking to get the most out of your save file, here is what you actually need to do before finishing Chapter 1:

  1. Secure the Shadow Crystal: You get this by defeating Jevil. These crystals are vital for the overarching mystery of the game.
  2. Talk to Sans: In Hometown, make sure you talk to the guy standing outside "Sans." He’ll invite you to hang out with his brother "tomorrow."
  3. The Spincake: If you find the Top Chef in the Forest and return his "Broken Cake" (after getting Malius to fix it), he gives you the TopCake. If you give it back to him again, he gives you a Spincake. It’s an infinite healing item because he’ll give you a new one in every chapter if you eat the old one.

Basically, just be curious. Toby Fox rewards players who treat the game like a puzzle rather than a straight line. If a room looks empty, it probably isn't. If an NPC says something vague, go back and talk to them after a major event.

To prep for Chapter 2, make sure you've interacted with everyone in Hometown at least once. The game tracks these interactions, and they often lead to new dialogue or scenes later on. Go grab that Egg and keep it safe—who knows what’s going to hatch in Chapter 5.
