Defeat Kor or Daigo: What Most People Get Wrong

Defeat Kor or Daigo: What Most People Get Wrong

Honestly, if you've spent more than five minutes in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3, you've probably seen that nagging quest pop up: Defeat Kor or Daigo. It sounds simple enough on paper. Go to a spot, shoot a boss, collect your loot. Done.

But then you actually get into a match. You realize Daigo is basically a magnet for every "sweat" in the lobby, and Kor is currently playing world-champion hide-and-seek on a floating island that moves every few minutes. It's frustrating.

Most players are making this way harder than it needs to be. They land late, they fight with grey pistols, or they get third-partyed by a sniper while the boss is at 10% health. I've spent the last week testing the most efficient ways to clear this quest without losing your mind—or your crown streak.

Finding the Targets: Where They Actually Hide

You can't defeat them if you can't find them. This sounds obvious, but because of how this season's map evolves, their locations aren't always static.

Daigo the Mask Maker is the more "traditional" boss. He’s usually camping out at Demon’s Domain. It’s a massive, brooding temple complex that replaced the older POIs in the center-south region. Look for the spires. If you see giant stone structures glowing with dark energy, you’re in the right place.

Kor is a different beast entirely. Mercenary Kor (or sometimes called the Lieutenant) is tied to the Rift Island. This is the floating island that rifts into the sky after the second or third storm circle.

If you're hunting Kor, don't bother looking for her on the main ground map. You have to wait for that island icon to appear, grab a zip-line or use a jump pad, and get up there fast. She’s agile. She teleports. She is, quite frankly, a massive pain.

Why You Should Probably Pick Daigo First

If you just want the quest over with, go for Daigo. Why?

  1. He's always there.
  2. You don't have to wait for the mid-game island spawn.
  3. His loot is arguably more "meta" for the average player.

That said, Demon's Domain is a bloodbath. If you aren't confident in your early-game 1v1s, Kor might actually be the safer play once the lobby thins out.

The Strategy: How to Defeat Kor or Daigo Without Dying

Let's talk tactics. These aren't your typical Season 1 bots. They have high health pools and actual mechanics that can sent you back to the lobby in three seconds.

Dealing with Daigo's Lasers

Daigo uses a variety of masks that grant him different powers, but his primary threat is his Enhanced Spire Rifle. It has a laser sight. If you see a blue line pointing at your chest, move. Now.

Basically, you want to use the environment. The temple at Demon's Domain has plenty of pillars. Pop out, hit a few headshots, and duck back. He also summons demon guards. These guys are weak, but they’re meant to distract you so Daigo can land a heavy shot. Clear the guards first with a spray weapon, then focus back on the big guy.

Pro tip: There’s a known exploit—though Epic might patch it—where hitting Daigo with an Unstable Burst Pistol or certain Supernova gear causes his AI to "break" temporarily. He stops attacking and just stares. If you have the gear, use it.

The Kor Teleportation Loop

Kor is much more annoying because she refuses to stand still. She uses a Mythic Deadeye DMR, which means she wants to keep you at a distance. If you get too close, she rifts away to a different part of the floating island.

To beat her, you need a long-range weapon. A standard AR or a sniper is mandatory. Don't try to chase her with a shotgun; you'll just waste your mobility items.

  1. Find a piece of cover on the island (the trees or the small huts).
  2. Wait for her to stop moving.
  3. Aim for the head.
  4. When she teleports, don't panic. Just look for the blue rift trail.

The Rewards: Are the Medallions Worth It?

Defeating these two isn't just for the quest XP. The loot is actually some of the strongest we've seen this chapter.

If you take down Daigo, you get the Enhanced Spire Rifle and the Infernal Defenses Medallion. This medallion is a life-saver in the late game. It gives you passive shield regeneration (up to 50) and speeds up your reload time. It’s perfect for players who like to play aggressively and don't want to stop to pop minis every ten seconds.

Kor drops the Deadeye DMR and the Shrouded Striker Medallion. This one is weird but fun. It makes you invisible when you sprint-jump. It also gives you a massive boost to your jump height and distance. It’s the ultimate "get out of jail free" card if someone starts spraying your builds.

A Warning on Medallions: Remember that carrying these puts a yellow circle on the map for everyone else to see. In the 2026 meta, players are extremely aggressive toward medallion holders. Don't pick them up if you aren't ready for constant fights.

What Most People Get Wrong

The biggest misconception? That you have to do 100% of the damage.

You don't.

If you roll up to Demon's Domain and another player is already fighting Daigo, you can "steal" the credit. As long as you deal a decent amount of damage to the boss before they die, the quest usually counts.

However, be careful. There’s a persistent bug in the "Brothers of Mask & Blade" questline where the game sometimes fails to register the kill if you are eliminated immediately after the boss dies. To be safe, make sure you stay alive for at least 10-15 seconds after the boss drops.

Fast Track Steps to Success

  • Land at a nearby landmark first. Don't land directly on the boss. Grab a Shield Potion and at least one blue-tier weapon.
  • Listen for the music. Bosses have unique theme music that gets louder as you get closer. Use this to pinpoint their exact floor or corner.
  • Check the map for the yellow icon. If the medallion icon is already moving around the map, the boss is dead. Don't waste your time going there; just head for the next bus or restart.
  • Use the Storm to your advantage. If the storm is closing in and the boss is low on health, the storm damage can actually help you finish them off. Just make sure you've tagged them recently.

If you're struggling with the Kor encounter specifically, try to bring a vehicle or a Grapple Blade to the Rift Island. Mobility is the only way to keep up with her teleportation.

Once you’ve finished the fight, grab that Mythic and get out of there. The sound of the boss dying is like a dinner bell for every sniper within 300 meters.

Stop trying to "fair-fight" these bosses. Use the cheese, use the cover, and get your rewards.

Next, you should head to the nearest Upgrade Bench to maximize your new Mythic’s potential before the final circle begins. Good luck out there.
