I'm not sure if it's been CC'd before, but how about one of the Fire Emblem or Super Robot Wars games?

I wouldn't mind seeing a CC challenge for the chaos engine.
Modern artists are told that they must create something totally original-or risk being called "derivative".They've been indoctrinated with the concept that bad=good. The effect is always the same: Meaningless primitivism

What about a single sub-sub-board (like Portfolios and Unpaid-Work) in the challenges? Just Moderators could open new threads, but users could post in old threads all the time. It's a pity that these good threads disappears and these games are never enough analysed.

thoughts?

We thought about that and it is likely to happen once we get our asses in gear for the next CCs.

Capcom's Trojan

Pretty nice tiling for the NES.

Comix Zone on the Genesis

I'm sure some of you will enjoy the hook to the graphics and I think it'd make for an interesting C+C discussion
plus it has a Z and an X in the name, so you know it's good

I agree about Comix Zone. it makes a nice bridge between the most celebrated hi-saturation prime color art styles in POP...Comics and Pixelart. In tiling it also has a very clever way of sidestepping "breaking the grid" with it's panel structure.

There is a very curious and pixelly effect in Genesis, because it used to blur vertical lines together...and many games took advantage of that to sort of fake an alpha blending(that Genesis never had) it'd be very interesting in a Computer Aesthetic kind of way because of that too.

That's without even mentioning the animation...that makes great use of timing to save some frames...specially in the more humanoid characters.

I'd love to see "Star Ocean: Blue Sphere" as Conceit recommended. I've never played a single game from the series, but the game looks so promising. Check out the video too

One of the thing I love about pixel art is how the restriction made the development process a lot more fun then CG or anything else. In this case, the Star Ocean from Gameboy Color (I assume) clearly has a lot to talk about.
