This should be interesting.
the simplicity will cause a startle i bet.

Entries:
both of winners.

Snake:

(astounding. I like the twister)

Mirre:

I really enjoy the colour scheme - and the way you did the gradient is awsome. Never seen it done like that before! However, it was supposed to be 240x160, not 160x240, which might cause some hassle later on ;) )

(becomes startled) Oh my!

Well then. Looks like things worked out for me in the end. I would have sucked this one up pretty bad. I wonder how diverse every one's pieces will look. I put $10 down, that 2 people will come up with a similar concept. I betcha' they will, I betcha'....

Good luck, and Pixel God speed!

I'm kinda grateful for the deadness of this thread, 'cause that means the contestants are working harder on their pixels instead of trying to come up with insults or being confused. (That's what it better mean.)

Haven't heard from Blick in a while. Hope he posts something, or is ok, for that matter. That would really suck for Mirre, seeing as how the majority of her opponents were ghosts(including me :-[  )

Either way, trash talking is a way of life, and if they won't do it, then I shall. I'll be Buloght's smack-talking voice for today: " What choo' got on me sucka'!! I'm the baddest mofo around town!! Snake!?! SNAKE!?! More like worm! Don't you know who I is? I'm Buloght "The Bullet" , sucka! Prepare yo self, for destruction!!"....yeah, something like that...

Hehe, that's pretty good B.O.B. I see snake runnin' in fear ... jk.

I have not been able to make something, I just did not have time this round, as much as I know I can't really beat the snake, I really wanted to make something worthy of the semi's, I did try something for a couple of hours (but it was rushed and quick cause it was all the time I had) but I haven't done skies much in my short pixel time yet this last year and I have gained a lot of experience by just doing this compo :)

Looking forward to the other entries, and I'd sure as hell love to enter another one. Goodluck to snake, mirre and blick!

That's really too bad Buloght, I was looking forward to it. There's no honor winning without competition.

It's understandable though. Hope you at least post your WIP so we can see what might have been.

since buloght dropped out, unfortunatly
and there are 3 competitors left.

This will be a 3 way duel.
Therefore this eliminates the default win.
The two best pieces move on.

Hokay, submitted mine. I like what I did... but it is much less complicated than what I had planned. Didn't manage to execute any of the fancy ideas I had though, so I settled for something simple. But it is something that I truly love about the sky.

Sad to hear there will be nothing from you buloght, and maybe nothing from Blick :( ...I was looking forward to your entries guys. Even if you don't finish in time, still post a w.i.p. of what you did, please?

So...

That means both Mirre and Snake move on.

I am still planning on having a final round - since you two technically werent supposed to compete this round.
Ill have the next challenge up shortly

ill just give you a quick bit of time, to see the entries.

Excellent entries both of you.

Heh, these were great.

@Buloght: I can understand why you didn't send something in, Buloght. I also didn't find enough time to finish mine, and well, to be honest, I didn't think out just how hard or long my piece would actually take. However I still believe it right for you to submit something, at least a wip of some sort. I know you have something back there. Same goes to Blick. ya' lazy bastardos! (joking)

Good luck to the champeens in the final round...

wow, snake managed it perfectly to make his entry so rich and detailfull, and yet not too complicated to be visually attractive. also I love the different moods expressed by the different parts of the picture. for me this is a picture to learn from, not only in terms of pixelart techniques.

mirres entry is great too, having this very nice palette and a gradient over 200 pixels only done with 2 colours :D
also I really like how the stars look in the lower area which really makes them look like they were shining through the dark-blue atmosphere instead of looking like they were in front of it (seen from our side. oh well I guess I can't explain it right, nevermind)

Stunning entries, both of you :)

Snake - that's awsome.  Fantastic composition, style and contrast.  I showed my mom, and she was very impressed.  Then I told her it was pixel art.  ;D

Mirre - I really love that moon, the misty look of the gradient and the way the stars in the brighter sky aren't as clear.

Great job, both of you!

it was supposed to be 240x160, not 160x240, which might cause some hassle later on ;) )

alluding to the final challenge, perhaps?! D:

Snake, love your entry, though, some parts seem a tad sketchy, but i guess that is expected when pixelling a sky, something that isn't really structured or defined, as well as with limited colors. A great job overall. I kinda wished the lightening was more contrasted, but it looks nice.

Mirre, I like the layout of yours, a nice vertical panoramic, but i can't help but feel that the 50% dither throughout most of the lower portion could have been mixed up a little, with different patterns to add more interest. The moon is nicely done, and it flows well as a whole. Good work.

lol, what a stupid mistake (I was just waiting for myself to do something like that).

And wow snake, I totally love yours. It's such a great mix of calm sky and storm. I especially like the lightning, and the parts where the light shines through the clouds.

Was really hoping for Blick to show up. Ah well. That's some effective dithering you've got going Mirre, had to zoom to notice.

Guess I'm up against you in the final round after all. Can't wait to see how this turns out! I wish you the best of luck in the finals.

(and I'm still waiting for those WIPs  ;) )
