"Chibi" style portrait of a friend

on: July 23, 2005, 10:15:30 pm
I used to do a lot of this cute type of thing, and more recently have done more realistic stuff.. But my friend requested it so I regressed !

( RJR = her initials, not mine)

I think perhaps I was a little lazy on the hair, but i'm quite satisfied. Looking forward to finishing some of the more proper pieces i've started lately : )

Comments and crits etc would be nice to hear, its 19 colours total.

Nice style, really like the shading. I think you could AA the hair a little, but other than that, no real crits. Good job.

What can I say? It's a nice piece, your basic chibi.

To be honest, it doesn't look any different from other chibi's I've seen, but then again I don't really like anime stuff, so I don't tend to look at details when it comes to stuff like this.

But that's not saying your piece isn't good. Your piece is great.

The only thing wrong, IMHO, is the hair. The lightest highlight in the left topmost part is a bit uneven. The whole piece is so smooth except for that. I'd say try to even it up, get it a bit more rounded, AA a bit, and it'll be great.

And I hope you don't take offense to me saying that your chibi isn't original or anything like that, because once again, I see very few chibi's and I really don't like anime. It's a good piece though.

..::Naso::..  thanks ! haha.. I used to pixel a lot but not so much lately.

CrematedPumpkin  thanks ! yeah.. I was sloppy on the hair. This evening I'll fix up and edit and see if i can smooth it out a bit.

StairwaytoEvan Oh, no offence taken at all ! I used to really like the whole chibi thing like I said, but it did become pretty boring... This pretty much is your generic chibi too : )  Like I said to Cremated Pumpkin i'll try and put together an edit when I get back from work this evening.. see what i can do to the hair ! I do appreciate the comments though, more realistic stuff coming soon !

Well, you know what  I think. it's really well done. and cute. the style though... makes it look like some sort of paiting from the 30's... i dunno maybe it's the colors :D

you take care now,
