[WIP] My Hero Academia

on: May 14, 2017, 11:40:46 pm
Pretty close to done besides some color tweaking, logo and other details. Please ignore the stray black/clear pixel on the eye. The final is a poster version (for print)...
But here is a reformatted FB banner version! All the sprites are standalone, so while it's easy to move around, they don't quite fit neatly together in a composition as I'd like.

Can post progress/timelapse pics if anyone is interested.

Looks decent but antigravity girl's head looks a bit disjointed from her body, I'd adjust that a bit so her neck isn't connecting to her chin so much!
If you can I'd also tweak colors, everything's a bit jumbly looking right now and it makes it hard to focus on any one character in the piece!

Still not quite there! Necks connect at the back of the skull!

I think it makes sense given 3/4 view from a low-angle camera rather than a profile, and she's craning her head down from above slightly :-/ Imma mirror it and see

I think MysteryMeat would mean something like this:

I definitely agree with him that her neck still looks weird, not sure if this is how it should be though.
You get in the bowl

I made a 3d quick pose to show what I had originally in my head
but maybe got lost in translation or the pose is kinda off to begin with

That 3D anime head doesn't connect to the neck the way a real head does (the back of the head is more complex than just a ball), and with a chibi style like in your drawing, the situation gets even worse since chibi heads can't connect in a believable way.

I wouldn't worry about it. If you were to connect the head realistically, it'd be too far forward. If you connect it so the head's in a realistic location, the neck will appear too far forward. If you lower the head to hide the neck's location, the pose will read differently from what you probably intend. I think your first edit is fine. You could perhaps move it forward by another pixel without it looking too weird, but it's not going to look good to everybody no matter what you do, just by virtue of chibis making no anatomical sense.
