Blood Orange (first pixel art attempt)

on: May 06, 2017, 09:22:48 pm
Put this together on my phone (in Pixelable). Basically my first attempt at pixel art, so I could do with some criticism. :)

Too dark, and you gotta watch your banding! Look through the pixels and art glossary thread here, there's a bunch of stuff you could look at here for colors and avoiding banding issues!

Thanks for the feedback and links MysteryMeat. One tactic I read had to do with using fewer bands of colour. Are these any better in this regard?

Better! Now just tweaked and your colors, you're not quite orange enough for it to be a blood orange. If you really want to sell that it is a blood orange too, I recommend taking a cut of it out to show the inside and it's blood red juicy bits!

Thanks again MysteryMeat, really appreciate the suggestions. Here's a stab at your idea of taking a cut. Not really a blood orange anymore, but I'm not so fussed :P. (This was a loose reference).

(I'm not sure why, but my colours appear muted when posted here…).
