Character pixel style

on: April 06, 2017, 01:22:27 am
I'm working on a side scrolling game, and I'm not sure what style I should go for.

I want some character graphics to change with equipment changes and so on.

I also plan to have a decent amount of unique animations for the characters.

I'm debating on what the best art style is to make this easy and still look half way decent.

I was thinking of a style with larger head, focusing on the details of faces/helms. Rather than the body making the equipment changes possibly a bit easier to manage.

But again I'm not really sure of the benefits in this style vs others with more promotional bodies or styles that focus more of the arms or easy animations.

If anyone has some experience or examples of benefits of other styles I would to hear your thoughts.

Thanks.

Simple is best for this, look into cartooning concepts. Lisa: the painful has an EXCELLENT example of a well-done low-budget art style.
PSA: use imgur
