Running Animations (Help Needed)

on: April 01, 2017, 09:29:16 am

So this is the basic plan I have for my characters, the blocky, situated look.

But the running animation, I'm having trouble with. I can't seem to find a style that works with the characters themselves, suggestions and/ or critiques?

Have you tried just googling for walking animations and recreating those? I think something like this is especially interesting for your sprite.

I did in fact look online a lot trying to find a suitable style or tutorial, but most focus on the "spider legs" type,

Or the "realism" type,

Or even the "Megaman" style,

And none of them fit the blocky, tall, conformed look of the character.
SO...

Welp. (Sorry for unintended page spam.)

Look at some non-pixel art tutorials on walk and run cycles, so that you understand the principles, the major motions the frames convey. Then, adapt that to your style. The principles of walking/running are style-independent.

I'll test that out and see what I can do. Thanks for the tip!

(And yes, I am fairly new at pixel art, for those of you already knowing by my simple character.)

Deviant Art, just google "pixel art running animations" and it's one of the first to show up.
