[C + C] Character for a game

on: March 20, 2017, 04:25:32 pm

This is my try at making a lively character for a small game I'm planing to make.

Posted at 100% zoom, but the final render in-game will be at 300%. Please remember to take this into account when doing CC.  ;D

Pretty good, but the waist pinches a bit much. Try pulling it out a pixel under the boob!

Like this? Thanks for the tip :)

By the way, do you have any thoughts about the skirt? I think its waist line is too straight, but I can't find a way to make it look better.

A couple improvements:
  • Shortened her arm
  • Moved skirt up

Buncha minor tweaks here, so I'll list 'em off:

-adjusted the boob curve a bit, they've got a bit of sag to 'em usually. Best to think of them as balloons with sand in them, rather than as plain spheres.
-tweaked the leading edges of the shirt-straps to have less of a solid outline, both to soften the border between the shirt and skin and imply it to be a slightly-thinner fabric like t-shirts usually are
-tweaked the waist some more, bit boxier but feels more in-line with the rest of the picture   and help lead into where the thighs would be
-tweaked the waistline and outer curve of the skirt, the former to imply a waist curve and the latter to have it a bit closer to the legs. This one's more a personal choice tho.

one thing you might want to consider is changing the belt buckle size or color, yellow and white tend to blend into one-another since they're both pretty bright colors. That's more of a suggestion though.

EDIT: also, I'm curious, is the white line on the glove supposed to be anything?

Wow, thank you so much for all the tips and tweaks. I find amazing how a simple change on the curve of the skirt makes it so much more natural. And shame on me for overlooking the first thing that I learned about drawing women: boob shape/sag. As soon as I have some time I will study carefully everything that you changed. :)

About the buckle... the only reason why there's a buckle in this picture is because the waist line was looking weird(empty?) without it and I didn't knew how to fix it. I'm still trying to get rid of it, I just don't know how.

And the white line on the glove is supposed to be a cutout. Something like this:

Once again, thanks for everything!  ;D

Hm! If that's the case, I'd try and make it a bit thicker. Try and conform a rectangle to the back of the hand, like on that glove you linked. As it is, it looks like a bandage or an errant line.

As for the buckle, perhaps try one made of silver or, if you really want to push it, go for a champion's belt?

Hahaha, I'm actually trying to push it on the other direction. But I can't deny that a champion's belt would look nice.
