Wanna animate this little guy but i am pretty messy when i draw and am not sure how to clean things up/make things more visible.

Lets see what you guy have to say.  :D

Consider if every part of the character needs to have the bright light on it. I think that's what's making the character flat and hard to read.
The black lines are also not helping. Try colouring those according to the light (black in shadows, grey in light), that should help the forms be a little clearer.

I don't know what the creature's meant to look like so I might've misinterpreted your art a bit, but here's an edit:

The light seems to be coming from above, so I changed the lighting to match. I left the back parts of it in shadow so that they look more like they're far away.

Thought I'd add my take on the lighting:

I think that reads better, yes.
I'm still having a hard time figuring out what the structure of the torso is and how the head connects, possibly because of all the detail there making it hard to tell what's surface details and what's not.

It's a neat design, and another user has already  offered an edit toning down the detail some, but I'll go ahead and be another voice and say that I do believe that may be what holds back this sprite the most. Perhaps try a less-is-more approach in order to help the readability.
