Need help with a "portrait"

I'm going crazy, I can not make it look well  :(

(It suppose to be a soldier with an armor)

Can you post some references (images) what mean "well" for you?

With the information provided, my first thought is that you might want to look up armour from whatever time period you want to aim for and try to study the individual parts. That doesn't necessarily look like armour—more like rounded plates and cylinders of aluminium strapped to some bloke's torso. The main problems being that armour doesn't conform to the body and that there doesn't seem to be a defined light source.
The arms also appear to be different lengths? The arm holding the sword seems much shorter than the other arm that is awkwardly angled and holding the shield.
