Crouching Animation

on: January 20, 2015, 05:16:40 am

Feels a bit weird having two separate topics, but this is a way different style and approach.

That... looks like it'd be a very uncomfortable position to maintain for long. What is this for?

Also, is that a shadow or a beard?

what kind of effect are you looking for? it looks kinda like a relaxed ballet move (pre-show stretching?) at the moment, with the pointed feet and splayed legs

The color flatness seems fine.
The clarity of the hints you have could be better defined.
I also feel like her color composition is a bit linear.
But...  not necessarily a bad thing.

And knowing that it is, we seek what it is... ~ Aristotle, Posterior Analytics, Chapter 1

It's a squat down.  The intention was to have her stick in the lower position, but I probably should have a few more frames holding her there.  Looking back, her coming up is too fast.
And it's two piercings.  The two balls under each side of the lips.

Inputting a bit of personality.  She goes on her tip toes before squatting.  It's based on what I do whenever I'm looking on something on the bottom shelf of a store, for example.

By clarity of hints, do you mean like what you did to the hair with the extra gray color?  Kind of highlighting a bit more than not at all?

He means you should think where you draw your shadows (darker color), cause in your version you've dark colored entire right side and she looks like she have only one boob. When you are aiming for minimalistic color palette (one main color one shadow) ,which I personally like most of the Batman cartoons use the same principle, you should position those lines thoughtfully.

The face change was a very good idea...

Changed the face, thickened the pants and legs, and replaced the chest.

In frames 4,5 and 6 leg proportions are very inconsistent. You should fix that, it's the same problem like in chest ghost character.

i do a similar thing when i look for a low item, its called sitting on your haunches afaik. so is it meant to be like these pics? -

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=human+on+haunches&safe=off&espv=2&biw=1920&bih=979&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=RsTCVI_eOM2u7AaC94CYAg&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ#safe=off&tbm=isch&q=man+on+haunches&imgdii=_

i feel like the legs are short and start too far down the body- if they bend to the point the bum goes parallel to or down past the knees, and the arms are in front, theres going to be some interaction between the arms and the legs
