ZX-Art graphics updates

on: December 13, 2014, 04:32:44 pm
Hello guys.

I'm new on this forum. As an administrator of ZX-Art, I would like to ask your permission to post the updates of ZX-Art here.
ZX-Art is an online collection of classic and modern ZX Spectrum pixel art. Most of works are really low-spec, because classic ZX Spectrum graphics has resolution 256*192 and 15 colors strictly limited to character position blocks.

How can these updates be useful to Pixelation forum?
* We have modern ZX Spectrum-related pixel competition entries.
* There is a nice search and tags system in case you need to find some specific topic (for example tag: spider)
* We have ratings and top of best works, so you can take a look at best ZX Spectrum images of all times if you need inspiration.

You can find all kinds of flickering, dithering, character limitations masking, acid palette limitations overcome tricks there - I am sure that most pixel artists could find this material interesting and inspiring.

Should I post short interesting periodic updates here?

One example of what I mean under updates:
Pixeljoint.com competition "Zarblay Xemplok" (2011) images have been added. Thanks to diver4d, they can be now viewed on a real hardware (ZX Evolution - a modern clone of ZX Spectrum with advanced graphics capabilities).

For those, who haven't yet noticed: there is now a web-radio on ZX-Art. You can now listen to the best ZX Spectrum music directly in your browser: there is game radio, demoscene radio, 1bit beeper radio and exotic formats like Digital AY and TSFM. You are welcomed to listen!

All works of authors, party entries and detailed search results can now be downloaded as a single archive. NB! Archive preparation for downloading of all works from ZX-Art (about 8000 images or 4000 tunes) can take 1-2 minutes, so please wait a little after pushing a button.
Download, spread, make backups - everything is open. Please respect author's licenses where applicable.

We are also publishing the project development road map on five directions.
Current top priority is getting rid of some commerce modules and publish the source code of portal to the GitHub under some free license, so anybody would be able to start up his own copy for any non-commercial purposes or even help with ZX-Art development.

Thank you! I've started to fear that I'm posting to a wrong section of a forum :)
There are many things happening on ZX-Art really, so I'm posting here only really significant notifications. I'll also be really pleased to tell more about modern ZX-Spectrum pixel art scene if anybody has any particular questions. It's a real part of pixelation history, anyway, and it's been actively developed for more than 30 years already.

These are really cool!
I love the Batman piece!

This forum is really for low spec non-pixel art.
So you could ask a mod to move this somewhere more appropriate.

Thanks for noticing! I'll take a look for moderator ASAP, so the topic could be moved to more appropriate place.
I'm also glad that pixelation has got a new look, the new forum is way better.

More than 40 restored images from Microhobby Pixel A Pixel have been added.

The main restoration work has been done by Maria Veide. Without her help this project would have virtually stopped.
