Urcodev id looking for 2D artist

on: April 25, 2016, 01:23:12 pm
I’m writing here in representation of a little development group composed by four professional individuals: three programmers and an artist .

We have been working for a while on our first project, a simple but pretty solid tower defense. By now, we have the very foundations of the game fixed and working but we're starting to see the need for some art (our first artist joined us recently) to reach the goal of ending our first game and, with some luck, publishing it.

What features can we showcase for now?
-A functional tower defense where the player can place towers, start a wave and kill all the mobs or die trying, earning money with each kill so they can make more towers.
-An A* based pathfind that allows us to use open (free tower placement) or closed (fixed tower placement) maps at will.
-A terrain system that restricts where the player can place towers and the enemies can move.
-Different kinds of enemies affected by different towers.
-Different kinds of towers with different behaviours (AoE, bullet based...).
-Configurable towers, allowing the player to choose individually the target mode of each one.
-An enemy status system so we can poison/slow/burn/whatever the enemies.
-A spell system so you can interact with the game during a wave using an extra in-game resource.
-A map editor where we or our players can add more maps to the game and easily share them with their friends.
-A unit list selector that allows the player to choose which units they want to bring to a specific map.
-A user system allowing each player to save and see his own unit list templates.
-Internationalization support with three different languages set to test.

What do we need?
A skilled artist with some knowledge on 2D animation and illustration. We’re looking for someone with enough time and motivation to finish and publish a game.

They should also be able to do:
-UI specifics such as buttons
-Backgrounds and concepts
-Sprites and animations

What do we offer?
-An adult team with clear ideas of where this project is going.
-A realistic project, with a functional prototype which you can see beforehand so you can trust our game will be finished.
-A game genre that, even with its simplicity, has been proved to be successful again and again, and that can be expanded in many many ways, so you can leave your own mark.
-Credit for your work and a profit share in case we succeed publishing the game.

If you're interested in joining us, please, send us an email to urcodev@urcodev.com with your portfolio and a small introduction letter, much like this one, explaining where you come from, how much time you’ll be able to spend working on the game and anything else you think it’s relevant.

Thank you for reading, hope you’ll enjoy the project
