Prism is too much of a modest boy to say so himself but he did that with a laptop touchpad.

@PPD : looking at that revised version makes me think.. With your 'standard' way of sketching things, are you going for a chalk-like feel? I haven't really done much chalk stuff, makes me think that I should.

@0xDB: Dinosaur-themed bus? Reminds me of Scott Robertson's videos (eg.)

Doing a lot of design stuff recently. As usual, most of it is not scanned yet. But I did bother to scan this:

(real size: ~ 5.5 x 3 cm (downscaled to approximate this size). Media: 0.5mm fineliner, 2b pencil)

Then I thought I should probably polish up my tablet drafting skills, so did a bit more iteration.

Thoughts:
* Lined paper is really useful for design work (not limited to typography) once you get to the point you can 'switch off' your awareness of the lines
* z-sorting everything is pretty important to a clean result [1]
* Picking out some section lines ahead of time, rather than putting lines in STRICTLY according to z values, is too.
* might be possible to do the fine lines traditionally (with an 0.1 fineliner), to improve drafting skills more.

[1] not that I would call this a clean result ;) Topology comes and goes, much like my mind at this time of night.

@Atnas:
Maybe he just didn't want his masochistic tendencies to be known ;)
If you insist on being pessimistic about your own abilities, consider also being pessimistic about the accuracy of that pessimistic judgement.

Heh, didn't pick up on that...
Was vaguely aware someone else co-wrote that book with him, but...

Trying a slightly changed approach here for the daily composition using a combination of the usual unsharpened fat 1cm thick graphite mine for roughing it in in two 5min steps and a sharpened pencil for a third 5min step to "refine" a bit for clarity.

so each of these is: 5min roughing in environment + 5min roughing in characters/objects + 5min "refining" some lines for clarity
