Now there's a mindset healthy for art!

Thanks Eyecraft! I'm relatively new to art, but I've always been a strong believer in the concept of always trying to "improve yourself," and I have applied it to everything else in my life so far.

Sorry, I've hijacked the thread!  :D

xhunterko, "talent" isn't nearly as improtant as willpower and dedication. Keep going!

Improve the shading before you improve the outlines! That's usually the best way to work because the shading is the real meat of a drawing. Outlines are just a distraction if you're going for something like this I think.

Those pecs look a bit too big; even for a muscle-ho. Remember that he's got armpits—and some muscles sticking out from behind him.

Thanks for the link, i did in the first have the back muscles (behind the pecs) but i must've accidentally gotten rid of them :)
I'll do what you suggested with the pecs and improve the shading.
Thanks :D

When the arms are raised, the pectoralis major (pecs) lose their definition and become thinner because they are stretched. They only have definition at the bottom when the arms are pointed down, and there is "clevage" when the arms are together and forward.

The latissimus dorsi (armpit muscles) are the opposite. they cover the majority of the back, and stick out like "wings" when the arms are raised on muscly dudes, but dont stick out when the arms are lowered.

criticisms appreciated, especially on the dress/kimono anim.

The animation looks very nice. The hair is really impressive!

It that a kimono or a yukata? Either way, it is missing the obi (thick belt), the collar doesn't stand up enough, and it's too long. (should end above the ankles)

Also, both yukata and kimono are not connected all the way around, there should be a split down the length of the body (not so much a split as overlapping cloth)

If it's not supposed to be a yukata/kimono, ignore everything i just said! ;D Probably not a good idea to make it a yukata/kimono because they are stiffer than that and wouldn't blow around impressively.

You could base it on some Chinese clothing that can be made of a more material.

Hi xhunterko!

Quote from: Les Brown
You cannot expect to achieve new goals or move beyond your present circumstances unless you change.

These people are being curel to be kind, I think. If anyone says something to you that you don't like, regardless of whether they said it for your own benefit or just to be nasty, don't get angry. If what they say isn't true, then just shrug it off. If you know that it is true, use that critisicm as a tool to improve yourself.

This is just my opinion, but what bengoshia said wasn't fuelled by some hate for you; he said it because he is passionate about this hobby and he wants others to improve as well (including you). The best way to improve is to reflect on yourself in a critical and objective way. If you get emotional about critisicm about your work, and choose to block it out, you are also blocking the path to progress!

I just posted some new stuff over of pixeljoint (I'm a noob too!) and got loads of critisicm. But I wish I got more! Really! Every failure is a chance to improve. Many people on the forum noticed things in my picture that I didn't, and I thank them for that.

I don't know, I think I'm ranting a little bit here, but what I'm trying to say is that you should keep trying, but maybe you should change your learning process to take into account what other people have to say, even if it is not always a friendly compliment. Then you'll be sure to improve!  ;D

Also, quick question, what's a good (free) program for making GIFs?

I use mtPaint. It's free, open source, and runs on windows and linux! (But not mac I think)

It's not perfect, but it does the job IMO.

Can anyone give me some feedback on this?

You can post feedback here or there, doesn't matter.

Thanks in advance for your trouble!  ;D
