Throw some texture onto that slice! Buried cave network, basements, skeletons... anything that isn't just the grey void you got right now! I also reccomend working on the road gravel, right now it just looks like noisy grey flats. Add some texture and variance to the terrain!
Also, you need some more contrast on the edge bricks, I didn't even notice them at first because the shades are so close! You can also incorporate that brick to the edge of the river there!

I think you should put more emphasis on the crazy punk look she(?) seems to be rolling here! from the side-sprites it looks like she has kind of a spiked side-cut going on that is lost in the front-facing sprite, don't be afraid to make it assymetrical if that was your intent!
A manic smile can add a lot.
I'd also tweak the head shape some, it's way too circular! in a few of these! Another shade to help define the divide between face and neck could help a lot too!

Pixel Art / Re: [C + C] Archer Sprite
« on: November 21, 2016, 06:09:19 pm »
Things of note: It doesn't really scream "archer" to me, and the pose is so stiff as to be unnatural.
That second version is actually a step down in my opinion too, with the additional color the sprite has lost a lot of the clarity the flats afforded it! I'd go back to the previous version and try to work in some minor tweaks instead like some minor shine on the hair, try to focus on keeping that clarity intact!

I also recommend doing some research on what archers usually wear, for example many of them have special wrist-protector gloves on their bow-holding arm to prevent their wrists getting skinned by the bowstring. Other things to consider: where does she keep her arrows? There are various kinds of quivers: the classic back-mounted one, the one mounted at the hip, I've even seen a few people with quivers that strap on to the thighs!
Finally, what kind of archer is she? Crossbow, longbow, shortbow..? each one requires different bolts or arrow sizes, as well as different gear.
Keep cracking at it, try for a more cell-shaded look too!

I'm in. For you, sexy santa.

WHAT I DIG:
-Weird horror stuff, the creepyspooks are the big one but I'm also a fan of the more mundane horror things too!
In general though, monsters are tops!
-inversions on expectations and general creativity!
-inordinate amounts of effort going into shitposting, the more you put into the dumber the concept the more funny the end result is
-vibrant seanbaby-esque metaphors

Feel free to do whichever or whatever you like contentways with that, there's not much I don't like! Feel free to slap forty dicks on that or whatever you like mister Geiger, I'm pleased just to participate!

When in doubt, I use google and find hex codes to plonk in. I'm colorblind though, so I can't say I recommend that unless you want to start over-relying on a crutch you don't necessarily need!

this is super late but he has super skinny arms for such a jolly fat fella, usually those of more generous proportions have flabby arms.

I advise against the checker floor, it's a bit too easy to lose the characters in it.

Ideally, every part of the outfit should be a seperate layer.
Start with the face and shoulders, then layer the cloth bits on top of that, then the armor atop that. You might even need to layer out the various parts of the armor, but start with the head and work your way out.

Jaw doesn't connect on the left, makes it look off-center!
